The finish takes place on Front St. in Nome, so the snow is usually "removed" throughout winter. They bring back a little for the run into the shoot for the racers (which they just ride to the side of because its soft and slow).
We actually have a LOT of snow this year. White everywhere.

Mitch had an incredible run this year. It's unreal that Dallas and Mitch have won the last 6 Iditarod's between the two of them. Talk about Iditarod Royalty. It was nice to see Nicolas Petit put some pressure on Dallas to finish 3rd by only 5 minutes.

Petit apparently picked up Dallas Vet book as he left it at the Safety checkpoint. Its a mandatory piece of equipment that you must keep with you, so Petit anchored his sled before the arch, walked up and gave it to Dallas so he was "now finished" and then Petit went under. CLASS ACT.

So does anyone have the inside scoop on what the heck is going on with Dallas Seavey's dogs testing positive for pain medication? Dallas is claiming sabotage.
