Bushing found in Daytona links

Is anyone familiar with a bushing (small cylinder) located in the hole in the link where the screw goes in on a stainless Daytona? I’ve heard they could be on solid gold pieces to keep from rubbing and causing wear on the link but never in a steel watch.

Lots of Oyster bracelets have bushings , 93150 , 93250 , 78360 etc. Later 18K bracelets have ceramic/carbon bushes to curb wear
