I had a chance to order from second batch but ultimately decided I didn’t want it. I had the opportunity to tried on a similar model and didn’t like the thickness very much.

My order still has not shipped, even though I ordered at 10 AM on the dot.

Can't even get a response from Hodinkee other than the initial automated response.

From their website: "The initial batch of Grand Seiko Automatic GMT SBGM239 Limited Edition for HODINKEE watches have sold out, but more are on the way! Sign up for the waitlist above to be notified when further stock is added."

I received the watch and love it. My primary concern is taking a big hit of depreciation which seems likely short term. I don't mind to take some, but this particular transaction worries me to the downside. Wish they had priced it a little more conservatively all things considered. Still.... it's beautiful :)

Buying a GS at retail means buying a watch that you love on its own merits and plan to keep. If you give even a moment’s thought to depreciation of a GS, stay away from the primary market.

Another day without a response from the Dink!

All I can see is processing.

Wish they would at least give me a heads up with whether I will get one, or if the order will be cancelled.

I'm not going to lose sleep over the pending charge, but if they're just going to hold that money for x amount of days without so much as a response, it leaves a poor taste in my mouth.

FWIW the first batch was supposed to be 250 and my first batch model is numbered in the 300s. Curious.

I’m in the same boat. My initial order was at 10:02, and i haven’t received a shipping notification. The pending charge also fell off my AMEX. Who knows...

Just heard back from Hodinkee today. Watch will be shipping from NYC on Monday.

Somehow mine is going out with the second batch even though I got my order in at 10 AM on the dot!

Weird.

Just randomly received mine today. No email update or shipping notification from Hodinkee. FedEx didn’t require signature. Walked outside and it was sitting on porch.

Unfortunately I’ll be letting it go immediately. While in the limbo of it shipping, and no response from Hodinkee on request to cancel order, I came across opportunity to buy a watch I love and that’s a bit more of hit to bank acct, so letting this one, among couple others, go. Definitely a beautiful watch though.

Just got mine, have to say, I’m kind of disappointed in it.

Between the brushed bracelet and the polished dial, and the color scheme, just doesn’t feel like a special grand seiko. Not to mention the water resistance.

If I didn’t have less than an hour to consider the purchase I probably would’ve skipped it.

Most likely getting returned straight back to HODINKEE.

I don’t blame you—- I LOVE GS and own a few , but something seemed “off” about this one to me .

Love love this limited edition. The dial is amazing, has so many shades under different lighting.
