Am I allowed to put my make on the list at multiple ADs at the same time?

Would it cause any problems if I put myself on the wait list for a particular new watch at the same time?

Of course you can. From experience if one AD finds out that you are dealing with another AD, they usually won’t work with you. They don’t like it as they see it as you’re not interested in building a relationship. My current AD has been nice to me and I’ll be sticking with them. Shouldn’t be an issue.

All ADs are just shops that sells watches nothing more,so if possible you could possibly put your name on every list on this planet,as most all this so called relationship stuff only exists in internet land.

If you have access to several ADs, go ahead and express interest at more than one. It couldn’t hurt.

Who's going to stop you? The AD's don't cross reference each others lists (at least one can hope?)

Some retailer groups want you to stick with one location within their group (e.g. WoS group). However, as long as the ADs are part of different retailer groups with different CRM systems, they'd have no way of knowing. I personally have lists at three AD's: one WoS, one Tourneau, and one local family-owned.

Nope.

They forced your hand.

AP doesn't like this though.

I have bought from like 4 ADs. If they are going to make me wait for something I want then I’ll just give my business to the first one that offers it.

What’s the last time you bought a desirable Rolex from an AD? 20 years ago? Things have changed since then

This is actually my philosophy. I have bought 3 Rolexes at 2 ADs and am on a waiting list at a third for a new piece. Funnily enough the third one I like the most and will give them more business if they actually get my piece

I have one AD in my City.

The next closest one is an 850km trip.

Now ask me about purchase requirements and availability?

Having said that, in the past, I have purchased from them at retail:

SS Daytona 116520.
Subdate 16610.
Milgauss GV
SS Datejust 179160.

But things have changed over the years.

If an AD didn’t want you cross shopping stores, they could simply allocate you the watch you request in a reasonable time. If one starts to deliver with consistency, I’d pull back at other establishments out of courtesy and appreciation.

Around two years ago from a AD I have never had a so called relationship or even been in that watch shop before and the only desirable watch is what that person wants to buy. Yes things have changed but that down mainly to the buyers willing to play these AD games. And todays Rolex hype over certain watches, as many buy the hype to wear it, hype sells watches, and to many they have become little more than ££$$€€ objects and nothing more.

Ask as many as you want and have access too. I would go in so you know who you are talking with and they know you. I would also not share any details about cross shopping or other AD's.

Buy from whichever AD will sell the watch to you. ADs deal with multiple customers.

Waiting lists don’t exist just “expressions of interest”. You can express an interest at any number of ADs as long as they are not part of the same chain.

yes, there's no problem with that. but of course, if you start building a relationship with one, best to stick with them at that point

If you put your name down at multiple AD’s don’t think that just numbers will land you the watch. You have to go in and schmooze with them regularly. I hate that, but it has to be done. When you go into the AD find out who controls the allocation of Rolex watches and speak with that person, bypass the grunts.
