I hope you guys are right. I just purchased a 5164 after missing my 5167. I was hoping to get a discount from my AD but it didn’t happen.

I think the 5167 will increase sooner in value than the 64.

i think it will too. Its the base model, and that's not with a negative connotation at all. Its just what it is in the aquanaut line up.

Any time there are two models of pretty much anything that are similar, the more expensive one with the options needs the base model to do well in order for it to do well also. The 64's fate is tied very closely to the 67.

Yes. Not everyone wants to pay that premium for a complication they may never use.

Here the 67 is already at a steep premium, around £20K, so I think the two are now rising at around the same rate.

I will let karbo answer for himself but for me it is not a matter of disliking the nautilus but just loving the execution of the aquanaut.

I much prefer the dial on the aqua in color as well as the arabic filled indices over the sticks of the naut. I also was never fond of pcls on my rolex and even though its different with the naut it still reminds me of them

Last but not least I love a rubber strap.

I still want to add another nautilus just not sure which one at this point. I screwed up selling my 5711 white as I think that would still be my choice.

Nautilus is more classy and more fragile
It also depends of the existing collection..
I think the rubber is brilliant, its integration is natural not like oysterflex daytos
I also love the changing dial
BUT
Nothing wrong with 11/12 ok ? :-))

i agree. I would keep my 5164 over my 5712 no question if i had to get rid of one. Love the 5712 so its not like there is anything wrong with it. The aquanaut is just that good.

Don't own a Nautilus yet, but I have an inkling I would prefer the Aquanaut too. Less stress for me not having PCLs, more versatile with the rubber strap and greater water resistance. The 5164 also feels relatively more robust than the Nautilus too. It can pretty much fit in with all situations I would wear my Rolexes save for diving.

If I had to reduce my collection to just two watches, I would have just a 5712/1A and a 5164A and nothing else.

it is fair to say that 5164 hasn't go up crazy in price because Patek hasn't limited the availability as much as they did with the 5711. In other words this is all manipulated by the manufacturer

I think it is also very expensive when set against the 67 so demand was never huge, but in the UK it is trading at 2/3K over retail now as demand is transferring from other models to this now "value" piece.

Is that the reason or is it because the demand for the Aquanaut is not as great as the Nautilus? I have no idea but it would surprise me if PP was producing significantly more 5164s than 5711s. I would have thought that production of all ss models was about the same. I take it PP doesn't release these stats?

I just saw a pre owned 5167 on rubber sell for $26k (well, that's what it was listed for, and was marked sold a few hours later). Didn't know they had gone up that much

Not sure I can trust ewc prices. If those are accurate then everyone here is selling way way under market

Some of their prices make me lol

Watchfinder have a rare unworn one in for £18.5K or $25.5K so very similar. Chronext are asking £2K more.
