Simple winding question for older tudor/eta

Just got this new to me 1960 ish Tudor auto. Keeps great time by the way. All seems great except the manual winding. When I manual wind it it feels kind of stiff and not a smoothe clicking like my GMT or for that matter any other winding watches I own. No clicks at all. Sounds like it is forcing the rewind through the watches gearing. Sounds more like a mechanical hum that gets higher pitched the faster you turn the crown. That said, it seems to wind the spring....but is this normal? I just don't want to break anything. The autowind seems a-ok. Just checking. Kind of sounds like a wind up toy when released if you put your ear to it when winding. Thanks
