Incoming - the Snowflake has arrived

She has landed! Serial 84xx from 1976, with box and papers (and hang tag).

Comes on a 93150, though the dealer sent it along with the wrong bracelet but correct clasp. The correct bracelet should be here tomorrow.

All original dial and hands, with service bezel insert(knowledge garnered through you fine gentlemen and the vintage rolex forum) - something that I will most likely replace with an OEM faded insert in the near future.

Very happy with the purchase overall!

Thanks! Over the moon with it; I'm actually not hating the service bezel blue as much as I thought.

Insert looks good and matches the dial both in the blue and tritium pearl. I'd leave it.

Damn! That looks good my friend. I wouldn't worry about the insert, it looks great the way it is. The only person that will notice that it's a service insert is you.

With that being said, if you want to experiment with it you can try bleaching it to see what it would look like faded. Unless you're planning to sell the service insert at some point, in which case you might want to leave it.

But that's a great pickup. That watch is fantastic!

Thanks! With the prices the way they are, I do intend to sell this insert to soften some of the blow when I do find the right faded one, so no bleaching for me :-)

Yeah, that makes sense. I recently picked up a 1680 that had a newer insert so I had some fun with it and bleached it. It came out pretty good.

I would love to see some shots of your dial under direct sunlight!

Well done!

In a world full of 1680s and 5513s, this one is a gem. And I mean no disrespect to subs because I have one and love it and wouldn't trade it for anything.

But this is very cool. I think I have to unsubscribe from this thread because it's making my wallet lighter every time I look at it.

Enjoy JP.

Without noticing which section this was in, I expected to see Seiko pictures.

Nice pickup!

Thank you for the kind words. The blue is what sang to me here - I already have the black dialed 16710 (as well as a BBN), so I figure the blue would fit right alongside my chocolate DD40 and Hulk for all the colors of the dial rainbow.

But really, the fact that this is a bit more rare and generally under the radar when compared to a sub just sold me.

My wallet definitely hurts...

If it were mine I wouldn't sell it. The pearl color matches the lume on the dial and blue matches the dial rather well.

I think you're overthinking the "service" aspect a bit much but that's just me. Had no one told you then you wouldn't be sweating it. And, having a few inserts for a watch isn't a bad thing. Enjoy it.

You might be right there...though, I do truly want the more faded / ghost look.

Congrats, great pick up so fresh and so clean.

Already know which vacation to bring it on?

Great looking watch.
I have the black brother in a 1974 with bracelet too.
Fantastic watches.
1974 for me is birth year and it seems a rare year too. I’ve only seen 3 on the open market in 6 years.
Congratulations
