If 5270p production lasts a few years or more, price will probably catch up with 3970p one day. Haha j/k.

Beautiful pics. Thx for posting.

Sam, many congratulations. Did I read incoming 5740 as well.

My definition of an application piece (in the UK) is one for which the AD takes a customer order but then the name is submitted and final approval to purchase is given by Rhone. This was my understanding for my 5131R and 5711P - using this definition (not sure if there is another definition that anyone has?) then the 5270P is an application piece since my order had to be approved by Rhone. Now where it gets slightly more complicated is my AD was actually told they couldn't order a 5270P due to the restrictions on total production of pieces and the period of production. They persevered with my application and I very happy to report after some consideration it has been approved.
I also have a second AD I deal with and they have also been told they are unable to place any orders for consideration by Rhone.

Mike, there is no sensitivity on my behalf. I am as interested as anyone in value retention and on making the best choices with my hard earned money. However, if every thread distills down to only being a value discussion we miss out on the reason we all have this passion - the pieces themselves. This thread, as defined in the title was to simply express the enjoyment of an amazing Patek piece in pictures. No more, no less. Now I realise threads grow and take on arms and legs so the discussion will always develop but it would be nice for once to not get straight down to the pounds, shillings and pence.
I note you have said the piece is not for you and is too large - understood. But you then ask a leading question and ask if the price is at a reasonable price point and if the piece will need to be discounted to sell - I can say hand on heart I wish it was less expensive (as to is it a reasonable price point then I would say yes) and can confirm that I will not get a discount. You say your not trolling and I'm sure your not - you do however already have a beautiful Salmon dialled limited Patek piece and ....

Disclaimer: I like you too Mike!

Russell, This forum is great because of people like You. I realize it shouldnt always be about price since we are all collectors who love the brand but I think You may have helped many members who are considering this piece with your response. The fact that you heard it will be quite limited and some ADs wont even receive it is a very important piece of information. At that price point buyers will be relieved that it isnt readily available and overproduced. Congrats in advance on receiving yours as I am sure it will be a beauty!

Thanks Russell. Congratulations to you as well

My definition of an application piece is same as yours. When they announced the 5270P, I expressed my interest with an AD I deal with, I saw it about 1 week ago and confirmed my interest. They said they will get one for me end of this year/beginning of next year but I requested it end of next year as I got quite a few others coming in including the 5740G and 5968A. They said they would definitely get one for me by end of next year. When I asked they said it was not an application piece but now I know Rhone had been contacted with my details.

July is early, that’s great to hear! Have you decided if you’ll buy it?

Mine is 164k USD. But most likely, I will take it. I have checked around. Best price is in Swiss after 8% tax refund, 154k USD but I don't think it will be easy to acquire one.

Tried it on at the Geneva Salon. It's stunning, but a little rich for me at this stage!

Are you are getting a discount or a VAT advantage to make it $164K? (list is $187k I believe?)

I just converted it into USD using today's exchange rate. Sorry for not making myself clear. 164k would be a price in most european countries before taxes.

Understood - it's the VAT free price not a discount.

Looks like the 5270p has begun to hit ADs. Saw a posting of one on another forum.

Can’t wait to see more pics. I really love the blackened numerals (which I think would have made the 5170g white dial much better looking)

I do want one. Just need to find one now without going through all the usual Patek allocation BS!

The piece simply didn’t suit me on the wrist when I tried it on - went back on 3 different days to make sure.

The colour scheme or the case fit?

Truthfully my wife didn't like the colour at all and I wasn't totally convinced about the colour/case style on my wrist - actual fit was fine. It is a beautiful piece. My AD also had a 5370 to try on the wrist at the same event and to my eyes that was simply stunning.

It is a beautiful watch. The main reason for the cancellation is I am considering couple of other pieces. The other reason is I didn't want to pay full MSRP. I think discounts would be available on this piece over the next couple of years and I may still get one if I get a good deal on it.

I tried on the 5270P, 5370P and 5204P at a Patek event as well. I liked the 5370P way more than the 5270P. However it is not a very practical watch for me without the date function. 5204P was a very practical watch but the upside down moon phase and the smaller 5 and 27 date numerals bother me.

This is where I am too- I want it, but am nervous it takes a dive like the other 5270's.......I guess patience may be a virtue in this case.
