I also doubt they get such "wages" monthly; these guys live off the freebie-bandwagon for about a year and then they disappear into nothing, when a new season is out.

Reality stars dont make it like we are supposed to believe they do. Look at Muggy Mike who hung himself because he was depressed and in debt. 600K followers on Instagram and in debt. It's not like he wasn't selling his name/brand/face etc.

Oh and Tommy Fury has a fake watch on. A fake 116681. Im sure you can go out and buy that outright (as real) if you've just signed a 500K deal with boohooman. They make us believe it more than what it really is.
Does he really wear a fake? Got a pic? He is pretty simple so not hard to hoodwink him, but even without the Boohoo money his brother could buy him a dozen of those no problem so makes no sense.

I agree they have 1 year to cash in, and now maybe a few months if it's on twice a year, and that's what got Mike and many retired footballers into trouble, they can't adjust their lifestyle to the huge drop in income and fame.

I guess I found the answer I was looking for. Taking what Neil said, GB, FN and everyone who posted, only rich social media kids, dedicated followers of fashion and guys that can buy countries lol would pay that, but no one here, the informed crowd, would spend that much on one.

Shouldn't those people, especially those noted last, be able to get one from an AD? Couldn't they buy their wife (or daughter in ninjas case) a piece or two and then get what they want?

That's my point! Wouldn't a celebrity, etc be able to buy other pieces and get whatever he/she wants from the AD?

Agree. Not that it would be a piece of cake but real watch guys usually have strong relationship with their ADs.

In truth enabling is so powerful on this forum everywhere that even some seasoned PP members here have probably paid up for a hyped watch but I suspect not many as we all generally frown on really overpaying even if it is your grail, and you wouldn't want anyone to know you have.

I do not think it is those types. I think it is people with new/old/trust fund money who are suddenly "into" watches and need to keep up/one up their buddies. They have no clout with AD's and need these things NOW, they will likely not buy others to get what they want. Once the market slows, these people will disappear and have no interest. But as long as asshats like Odell Beckham are wearing RM's while playing freakin football, I think we might be further from the market cooling off than I thought not too long ago.

Agree. We see that happening on the main Rolex board here too.

I also think you have some people making the very rational argument that they want one (gasp) watch and want it to be a 5711/Pepsi/Daytona/etc. They have no desire to build a relationship with an AD, and so paying grey prices can make sense.

I recently saw a YouTube video. A guy is showing his collection of watches. A 5711 is among his collection. He explained how he got the 5711. He kept visiting an AD nearby, and chatted with the sales every time. After a few months, he got a call from the AD offering him a 5711. He didn’t buy anything from that AD.

YES, people are still paying $70+ for the 5711!

Sotheby's just sold one today for $75,000.

Stay tuned. Another 5711 is going under the hammer in HK on OCT 8.

I recently had lunch with a guy who buys and sells watches for a profession. He estimated my 5713 is worth $150,000 on the market today. A used 5713 was recently sold at auction in Asia for USD $160,000, so I think he was probably on target. I paid MSRP (about $84,000) from a grey dealer in February 2017. I am not selling the watch but it is interesting how the prices for the Nautilus have gone through the roof.

Except it's already been dropping. No blue 5711 has been solder above $70K for a while from any of the known grays/sales section. They are being offered in the high 60's now and still not selling.

There are 2 in the sales section right now for $69 and $68.5, both 2 week+ old. There's always going to be "dumb" money with people who don't care as much to look

Well, for a European those prices would make no sense as they would have to add roughly 30% in import taxes/VAT.

*Thats assuming the watches is not located in the EU.
