Holes...

Gang...I’m sure this is Rolex 101 stuff, so excuse my ignorance! Why did Rolex stop drilling the lugs on their watches? My guess is someone thought it would be more aesthetically pleasing. But damn, it sure was more convenient when changing a strap or bracelet.

It’s definitely less convenient but I personally like the look better without holes.

It's based on the look - you're right. And the cases do look much better, but what a pain for sure. I just gave up.

Too bad they couldn't do something similar to Panerai's quick release, but not enough space to do this (and fortunately Rolex doesn't make big clown watches).

You can always buy a restorer kit.

Rolex went from making some tool watches to only luxury watches

Yes it looks more refined, but my guess is that Rolex wanted to stop making it so easy to change the bracelet.

They want to control everything, even making it harder to put a strap or nato on THEIR precious product.

IMO, Rolex watches have always been tool watches.
It's just that they're luxurious tools that became more luxurious over the years

I actually prefer bracelet swaps with a no-holes case. The collar of the spring bars is easier to work with when inserting back into the lugs. Versus the no-collar spring bar for lug hole cases....
