Upgrade 116500LN White for 116519LN + thoughts on collection

Hi Guys,

I've had the 116500LN for more than a year and it's probably my favorite watch to wear. Surprisingly not for looks but more for comfort. (Besides this I have the BLRO and an AP 41mm Chrono blue-silver sub-dials). The Daytona pretty much disappears on the wrist , compared to the other two.

I've recently bought a pre-owned 116523 (two-tone yellow gold with blue racing dial) but haven't taken possession yet. I don't think weight will be a major problem in this case and I love the blue dial with two-tone gold combo.

I've recently been offered a 116519LN and am considering trading my 116500LN + cash for it.

I'm also looking to trade my AP for a two-tone CHNR.

I'm looking for your thoughts in a couple of areas:
1. Comfort - this will be my first OF watch. I wear all my watches snug and am wondering about it's weight and how much that'll factor into daily wear.
2. Looks - The reason I want to trade my current 116500 is because the two might end-being similar looking. I know one is a silver/metal dial with strap, while the other is white with bracelet but bearing in mind that I'll soon have the 116523 which is on bracelet and a different color I was thinking in terms of reducing over-lap in color-scheme.
3. Anything else that others who have made this move or current owners of the 116519LN might have to add would be welcome.
4. Overall collection - I'm looking to having:
a. SS BLRO
b. 116519LN
c. Two-tone CHNR
d. 116523

Meaning two-daytonas, two-gmts. Two two-tone watches and two mono-tone. Two black dials, one silver and one blue. Seems like a good combination to me for versatility and colors combinations as well as casual vs formal.

I would keep the AP.

As for the Daytona, I’d keep 500c if white.

The ROC is on it's way out anyway, whether I go for the chnr or not. Just got tired of wearing it. Might look for a 15500 instead.

Don't you guys think the 16500 and the 16519 would end up being similar looking dials?

Nope, nope, nope, do not trade your watches. Just buy what you love and keep them. If you are not in love with the watch, even though it may be hot, don't buy it. You will regret selling great watches, especially Rolex, everyone does.

And if a dealer is offering you a trade, you can be guaranteed it only benefits him.

Are you sure this reasoning or rationale isn't behind the other thread you started on "which is a better investment when the bubble bursts, SS or PM"?

...

I say stick with the 116500. In addition to the weight, the case is actually different on the 116519. The PM has a slightly thicker case and lugs that may or may not affect your comfortability.

Have you tried on the 116519LN yet?

If no find a gray in your area who has it, set up an appt to try it on.
Wear your 116500LN to compare in person.

I'd switch up to the WG and swap the AP for another AP, 500 if so.

1. I'm beginning to think that when steel starts creeping very close to PM - it is natural to wonder when it's going to auto-correct. Having said that, I generally like the looks of the pm models (who doesn't) and my only concern was losing value. The reason I started that thread was to get thoughts on whether my concern still holds true for PM or not.

2. Yes the case is different and you're light about the lugs being a factor. In the past I've gotten rid of 42mm APs becasue the pushers dug into my wrists. At the moment, the 16500 pushers don't dig into my wrists - this may not hold true for the pm version, and I plan to try it on first.

I have both the 116500 white and the 116519 and I would. It trade one for the other and think both are great in a collection. While the disks have a similar layout, they feel like very different watches with the steel bracelet on one and the oysterflex on the other. I love both of them equally and would make other trades to get the 116519 but not for the 116500.

Just my $0.02.

I can tell you from personal experience the 116519ln is beautiful and very comfortable. Also adds some diversity and flexibility with my BLRO and BLNR.
That said if I had the 116500 I would not sell it.
Not a fan of the AP ROC. Probably sell that and get the blue dial RO 15500st.
I would pass on the 116523
Like the CHNR

All that said, who cares what I think... get the stuff you love

I'd keep the ceramic daytona.
But if you truly like the 116519 more you should do it.

Thank you for your opinions. I think I'll try out the 519ln and see if it's different enough from the 500, since I truly do enjoy my 500 the most and it gets the most wrist time. The only reason I was thinking of trading was overlap in terms of looks etc... Might just keep both.
