Will rolex Still Service a 1570 Movement?

I'm thinking about a service within the next year or two for my 1601 and am wondering if rolex will still service a 1570 movement and if parts are still available. The DJ is circa 1975.

I've heard mixed responses to this.

Some have suggested it depends on the RSC in question.

Where are you thinking of taking it to?

There is a Rolex Service Center in Lititz, PA... Why not call them up and see if they can do the job..........

I'd probably go to Lititz if possible as it's about 45 mins from my house. My local AD has a Rolex service tech too and they have a special set-up for him in a shop with an outward window with Rolex markings All over. He once told me that they are a pilot for how Rolex intends to have their own service depts within ADs. Maybe he'll service it? Are parts readily available still?

I have a vintage Air King which I purchased from one of our trusted TRF members. It has a 1570 movement (not sure it was original to watch as the 1570 was used in Subs). I sent it out to a non-Rolex watchmaker who has a good reputation (Eric at EMW). He serviced the movement and replaced a wheel in the watch which he said is no longer manufactured, but he happened to have one (a Rolex part). I would think that some parts are readily available, but not all.

According to Rolex watchmaker rumors... RSC has enough 1570 parts stocked to service 15xx cal movements for the next 25-30 years. That seems like a LOT to me, but you never know. Some service centers will take them and some wont. I think I would rather send my watch to someone like Bob Ridley or another good vintage Rolex restorer who wont try to talk you into a new dial and hands and bezel insert and....
