Wooo, hopefully it keeps going, I'm hoping to pick up my Aquanaut late 2016, early 2017 so a price reduction is nice.

Pricing rumour

I think PP is trying to stamp out the grey market where parallel importers head to Japan or Europe and sell into Asia/US. I might actually buy one from the AD now for the experience. You used to be able to get substantial discounts in the grey market vs the ADs (20+%)

I really think strategically, this is aimed at getting more Asia customers to buy from ADs rather than sourcing their PPs from overseas. This article from the FT plays a little bit into that narrative.

Count me as quite disappointed as I made my foray back to PP in December. That said, love the watch (5146g w/ slate dial) just wish I had waited a few more months.

Will this include the UK? I've never seen prices decrease....surely that will annoy many collectors and Patek won't want to do that.

Not Patek, but an AD told me Panerai is reducing USA prices by 5% and raising Europe prices by 10%. Also expects most Richemont brands to do the same.

It would be nice to get some actual names of official ADs that lowered their prices. Any such decrease would have to be sanctioned by PP. If AD names cannot be listed then I do not believe their price decreases are official.

I just got off the phone with the AD at the Raffles in Singapore. For a 5726A (my love) I was quoted the list price of the official PP price list 2014. They have no (official) information about any increase or decrease but when I asked about a decrease I had the impression they sounded a bit surprised.

The current list price in Singapore equates to 45700chf at one of todays rates (0.6821), the list price in Switzerland 39000chf. Switzerland has 8% vat, Singapore 7% I believe. You can work out the difference, but even if they dropped prices by 7% AND returned 7% VAT, one would still be better off buying in Switzerland with VAT refunded.
With such a large gap between "home prices" and outside CH prices I can see why certain individual regions or countries might indeed experience a relatively small price drop. I would say it doesnt make sense to have outlets and AD that complain about sales or might disappear because they cant find a market at local prices.
This does not seem to be any reason to worry about the retention of value of the actual PP brand or its watches. I believe one should index the value of his watch to Swiss Francs to get a clearer picture if the price paid was higher or lower.

Anybody agree?

Also: I could not open the FT link posted above and had more luck getting to the same story with this one: http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/3a05b...#axzz3RKQWtDaB

Can anybody confirm pricing alterations by Swatch Group, Richemont Group and Rolex?
I heard unconfirmed news that they just increased prices...

Breaking news!

Prices at the Patek Salon Paris have been increased by 7% as for most of Europe and according to the Paris Patek Salon a 5% decrease in the Salon Geneva and confirmed by Beyer AD in Zurich. In general prices in Asia are reduced by roughly 3% but Japan apparently had an increase of around 5%.
In HK the 5167A now lists at 131800HKD as of today.

What about the USA prices?

How can they reduce prices in US$ when the dollar took 15% on the CHF????? Prices increased in EUrope by 7%, good I bought mine before, even if not from Patek I would expect the grey dealers to follow the increase...
