If they are producing 2000 pieces for the 40th Anniversary, it means each AD should receive at least a couple of pieces. Of course the Salons will receive the most. The 5711/1P will be intriguing if it is part of the Anniversary edition.

I would love a 5711P LE, that would be amazing, though I'm not sure what imprints on the dial would look like to be honest, but they would probably be discreet enough, so wouldn't kill the dial, most important is that they don't make a solid back, I found that disappointing on the 175th pieces...

The 5980 in gold, with the blue dial of course, would be killer!

How original and unique. Not.
Do something completely different rather than just changing the metals of existing watches. How about an openwork dial or some other unique element/materials in the movement? Stamping 40th anniversary on a dial is hardly revolutionary. I certainly hope they do something more exciting than this. |

It's all rumor and speculation until an announcement is made by Patek. No one knows anything.

"The rep told me" is pretty funny. If we make enough predictions eventually somebody will be right. As for spending huge sums of money on the same watch in a different metal like the 5711 or 5980 I'm not interested.

I'm with Paul on the openworked piece. If it is just a 5711P and a WG 5980 it would be a huge disappointment for Me.

Yeah I would love an open work Mike, for what they will do it is my understanding that just after the 175th they didn't want to do anything, but under public opinion they understood they needed to do something, so wouldn't be very surprised if they didn't really come up with any new model and just took 2 old and made them a little different, a sort of "commemorative" piece of 2 iconic pieces, I think we needn't wait for something incredible, though I would love a 5711P, but my watch budget doesn't have any more room for such a highly priced piece before at least one year probably even 2, the ones I have already paid for and will arrive until June, have made it impossible for me to add more than 50K to a new piece, the than the ones I have already paid for, in any case I'm not sure I would have taken a 5711P even if I had the funds available, too heavy IMO...

Another rumour making the rounds is that the 5712 may be discontinued.... I believe I've heard this one before though more than a few times -
After nearly 2 years on the waitlist, here's the latest addition to my collection which arrived this June. |

5711P's been done, would be repetitively underwhelming. Hope there are new models or at least new configurations of existing models.

It wouldn't surprise me if the did come out with the 5711P. Patek did a similar thing with the 5396 Tiffany version and the current 5396.

My sales guy barely knew there was a 1.5 link for the 5711 - not sure how he'd be privy to the pipeline

Seems to fall under the old "infinite number of monkeys, infinite number of typewriters" scenario.
