In order to protect those who have honest opinions, but worried about being exposed, let's try this again:

Simple question: Do you like the Naut 40th Anniversary Pieces?

I don't like the diamonds or the inscription. I would take a plain SS 5711 over the 40th model, and I love platinum.

Lose the diamonds, inscriptions, and size them down a bit, and they aren't awful.

The platinum 5711 could've been so so so good, but was executed so poorly.

Without the large dial text they would be fine, there is nearly always a knee jerk reaction to new models coming out and that tends to soften once members actually see and buy the watches, the Platona being a prime example with a lot of initial disdain for the brown, so this is no real surprise as the dial text and diamonds were not ever really asked for here.

It seems Patek was looking to do something different for the 40th on a watch that everyone loves just the way it is. In my mind, it is a no win situation for them.

I don't - I think the text on the dial cheapens the look considerably but the cork box is a nice touch

Wait and see for me. I hated them when I first saw the photos, I don't mind them now. I didn't like the 5930, 5524 or 5990 either at first and love those now so wouldn't rule out the 40th anniversary pieces looking so much better in the metal also.

For that price point, there are other options that I would explore. I'm sure however that they will have no problem selling.

It is interesting that most people who have commented in the various threads are less concerned by the diamonds and more concerned by the wording. It is curious as although none of us have seen the watch in the flesh I can't help but think the diamonds will be the eye catcher.

I'm still happy to swim against the tide.

Do you know anything about Carl’s relationship with his AD(s)?
Hasn’t it crossed your mind that there will be many ADs putting down names without even asking their clients?
It’s not like Thierry phones each one personally and confirms they’ve put their own name forward themselves, is it?

I guess I'm simply naive. I hadn't considered a responsible AD would or could be putting down names for an allocation piece without asking the customer.
For your info I was contacted by Patek direct about my WT.

Russel, I and others do....however we are in the minority.
From Patek's point of view I am sure that the 5711p has already sold out and the other has or will.
We are talking about their brand and any publicity is good publicity.
Plus in reality most of the haters are not and never will be the target demographic for these type of releases.
Just my two cents and I am sure that I will get flamed but I find these threads stupid when we have only seen two wrist shots and 99% of us have not seen the watch in person

Most ADs will have multiple clients whom they consider to be up for any Ltd Ed Patek, so if one passes, another will receive a call, and so on.
When you said Patek contacted you regards the 5131, what exactly did they say or need confirming?

It's ok for you to find them boring, maybe just ignore.

There was another poll but it was deleted by mods (for some strange reason).

Can you expand those you are referring to on the bold section? How do you know that? I am the target as I was #1 on my AD to order and passed. Who are you referring to exactly?

For the other 70 of so we were interested as it was do you like or not. No bashing, just a question/poll.

No less stupid than other watches being discussed based on what’s photos/renders are available until they’re in the wild.
Many didn’t seem to have an issue with slating the Piaget Polo S based on much the same to go on as these 40th Pateks.
