Loving it and wish i can afford it. The diamond markers and engraving surely aren't for everyone that's why PP made it a limited.

Oh they're very good at marketing....they know the psychology of their market.

Do You Like the 40th Pieces?

I'm pretty sure they wanted to know my intentions for the piece, simple as that. I also had a face to face meeting with Patek prior to allocation.

If you pass then the next person on the list is the person on the Geneva list. Could be anywhere in the world. This is not an allocation to an AD this is a LE.

Interesting to hear Geneva will be managing the list and not the ADs. I do not have connection to a Patek insider, so I have no knowledge of the allocation process.

However I believe most of the 175th Anniversary pieces were allocated at the AD level, at least the WTs and gold chronos. The 5975P and 5275P may have been allocated by Geneva, I don't know. The 5175 and the enamel dial pieces were allocated by the Geneva Salon AFAIK.

I like the 40th Anniversary 5711/1P, at least from what I have seen from the photos. However after giving some thought, I passed on the piece when my AD asked me.

I truly hope that deserving Nautilus lovers will be allocated these pieces and they don't end up on the secondary market within weeks/months of delivery.

Considering there are two 5930 available in the grey market and they only been out i2 weeks I have no doubt the 40th will appear at Greys quite quickly with $150k price tags.

The 5575 were definitely not AD allocations. Another TRF member declined a 5575 for his 5131 and I was not given the option of the 5575 (we have same AD) despite being in the AD list. The allocation went back to Rhone where another owner and dealer got the
piece.

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...=474160&page=2 found this May thread on the 40th.

I don t like it but alll will be sold out to those who like it and some other part of the world where the price tag and the brandname have importance.

I do not know how to say this without arrogance ....but I'm pretty sure the 68% that voted NO should have voted 'wait and see' that is the least one can do

I'm into watches since more than 25 years and my view/choice about many watches changed a lot.
Sometimes after years but for sure sometimes when I had a certain watch for the first time in my hands

I'm VERY, VERY sure this poll wil have a completely different result in october 2017 ... Wanne bet :-)

Pity we can't compare original feelings in 5524 and 5930 versus few months later

I agree.

I believe at one time the DBlue was referred to as the "seaweed". I thought that was funny, till I actually saw one

The 5990 was also a bit controversial. I did a poll on that v the 5980 in March '14 and again in Nov '15. 5980 was the winner both times.

I hate diamonds on mens' watches or jewelry, and I am not alone here, even if the engraving is much more subtle in real than in pics doesn't matter, if there was just the engraving I would have voted "wait and see", the ice makes it very clear, no need to wait and see anything.

About the 5524 and 5930 I liked both when they came out, but never liked the 5990, for me the worse dial of the Nautilus line up, but to each their own...

those baguette diamond are small and discrete, they just replace the baton markers
I'm sure irl they won't disturb you
Again ..... wait & see

I don't like diamonds too on men's watches. Don't want them in the case, nor the bezel. Definitely no pave dial .... but just to replace the indexes is something I can live with

These two Patek Anniversary watches are in my opinion the very worst pieces they have made during the last decades.
The Nautilus collection was great before these. Do they really think that everybody would like to have diamond indexes and always when checking the time, see 1976-2016 plus "40".

There is simply no sense and no style. Where is the elegance Patek is known for? Furthermore, the chronograph is beating Panerais on size.

Shocking and really puts me to think about further acquisitions. Vacheron will get much more attention from me.

Best, Kari

Agree, my feeling is wait and see...it often takes us a while to warm up to new release's, especially when the alter our favorites.
while images show the watch with great detail, putting the watch on your wrist is quite different.

Also agree about the diamonds, The use of them is about as discreet as can be and in person I suspect not nearly the statement as in pictures.

In reference to the pic posted by Karl, I know we are beating a dead horse and I will play my broken record over and over but I just don't see the need for the anniversary years embedded in the dial. Even if it is subtle I just can't get past it. Could've easily done a solid caseback with that on it as the movement is nothing special to see. The Nautilus dial in general is so beautiful and has such a chameleon like effect in different lights it is a shame they have put such an eyesore on it. In this pic posted, Are the 12 stick markers uneven?

There was another poll but it was deleted by mods (for some strange reason).

Can you expand those you are referring to on the bold section? How do you know that? I am the target as I was #1 on my AD to order and passed. Who are you referring to exactly?

For the other 70 of so we were interested as it was do you like or not. No bashing, just a question/poll.

As I am sure you already know, the implication was that most who don't like it cannot afford it. Stay classy Hamish.

Diamonds are a girls best friend for a reason. I find it marginally less offensive than the embossing. On the positive side at least it's not in white!!

I agree that some situations demand a wait and see and that tastes change with time, but for me these 40th Nautilus are as clear cut a "no" now and for however long I would have to "wait and see."

Yes, already the poll is at 1 in 3 don't mind it, and once we have incomings here it will move to 1 in 2 so all pretty typical stuff for a new "controversial" release.

If the result is worse or as bad as today
I give you a Patek goodie or special book like the minute repeater book, or rare handcrafts books

You give mee something similar if the difference is much more positive ....

Deal ?

you can get the rare handcraft books for free
Some morons sell them for 300 USD on Ebay but they are for free
Only not easy to get ... but if your AD is a good one ...

I already gave some of these to friends and other members

Same for the Wallet, Scarfs, umbrella's, pens, briefcase, loupe, ....
I get these from my AD without buying anything
