Apple homer here. I heard the new 12 will be announced sometime in October from some YouTube that has been pretty spot on. Looks like as usual I will get the new max version. Leaks say the screen is .2 bigger than the 11 pro max now. Many want smaller, as I get older I want bigger but lighter and thinner to fit in my pocket still. I pretty much get every new release and then the phones start handing down in the family, wife gets mine, kid gets hers etc until the last one and that one will then go on eBay and usually pays 1/3 of the new one.

I feel like I am helping my stock performance 😂

i'm going to upgrade my 8plus, fantastic iphone who has done me so much service during 3 years ! The last one with the home button !!

I hope a very good photo quality and a good battery. No care for the 5G at the moment, may be in 3 years for my next move.

Agreed, there is very little 5G available so there is no reason to get a new phone unless your old one can no longer do what you need

it would be the first time apple doesn’t use one of their biannual events to introduce a new iphone.
we just witnessed rolex do it, among others. so i can also see this happening with the new iphone release.

Not that I hope for this, but likely:

Higher price
Better chipset
USB-C
Limited 5G Fq’s (power issue)
Performance up

You think the new iPhone will be 5G?

I’d say 5 G for sure. I’m on the Apple upgrade program. I spend about $50 a month, after a year I can decide to get the new phone and start over for another 2 years of payments or continue to pay off the 11 Pro I currently have.

So far I’ve chosen upgrade each year. Let’s see what Apple has in store.

Don’t bet on my predictions, but I believe Apple has had a problem with circuit board real estate and power.

So yes believe it’ll be 5G in some form, but the odds of the user having 5G more than 50% of the time will be slim.

By enabling only some Fq’s, it’ll fit the model but won’t drain a battery as fast.

Phone makers are still wrestling with backward compatibility with 3 & 4G so more radios use more real estate.

I’m still using my 6 but the battery hardly lasts the day anymore. Probably time for me to upgrade to something newer, but this thing works perfectly fine for what I need

I’ll have to look into those. I have an original se (iPhone 5 dimensions), and a 7, but they started growing so quickly after that I just stopped looking or paying attention.

yeah size wise its almost identical, i think just a few mm bigger, but the screen size is a lot bigger because there aren't any bezels

The top tier iPhones has had OLED screens since iPhone X...

Think the main new tech will be 5G and the case redesign. The usually "incremental upgrades" will also be present such as faster CPU/GPU, better camera etc, not expecting anything break through.

As someone who gets a new iPhone maybe every 3-4 years and is still bitching about the sizes of the stupid things (I know, I know) could some of you guys in the real world expand on what is coming and why you are excited about it.

I get the whole battery life thing for people ( like my wife who are on conference calls for hours a day) but is the screen really not sharp enough, or the tech not fast enough, or the size not large enough?

And please describe what you will get from 5G over what you have from 4G.

For me the next thing about a phone will be can a phone be small enough to drop into a pocket and fold out enough to use like an iPad. That's a few years away, I guess.

But I'd like to hear what the new version will bring that the 11 didn't. Or is it that we have too much money in our pockets that we GOTTA have the newest thing???

Right? I swear I get ads on IG from some of my thoughts. Not kidding. But certainly based on conversations I have had, which is very creepy. I get that if I am googling something, but my conversations?

The other day I was playing a word game and my little dog was next to me and she barked at a squirrel she saw outside. The next ad was for pet medications.
It's getting ridiculous. To the point where I don't want a smart phone anymore.

New IPHONE 12 soon to be announced

I used to be a “new every year” guy until recently. Still have my X and it’s much faster with iOS 14. I think we’ve reached a point that makes the yearly upgrades mostly unnecessary.

There are hardware security measures with each new generation, better battery life, better camera, etc... but it’s getting harder and harder to justify the cost of a new phone, despite the fact that it’s possibly the single most important and frequently used object in our lives.

I have a Xs and I find it just too heavy. I prefer to hold the phone in one hand and its just too heavy so after a few minutes it starts to annoy my pinky finger that i place automacially under the phone to support it.
I've always said that if they release something like the 7 but with a bezel-less screen I'd be all over it and it seems something like that is on the way with a 5.4 inch model so out the Xs goes and in comes the smaller 5.4 one.

I have an 11 Pro Max, and am very happy with it. I am more excited about my incoming Apple Watch series 6, which will replace the initial Apple Watch.

I used to be one of those that got the newest phone the day it came out, I once queued outside an phone shop to get the newest iPhone. Not now though, I found that iPhones just became a much of a muchness for a lot of money.

The Nexus and the newer Pixel are/were fabulous phones and gave the iPhones real competition for a lot less money. The flagship Samsung phones (IN MY OPINION) are by far superior to the iPhone, Apple tries to catch up each year and features that a Galaxy has now will be incorporated into an iPhone in a couple of years time.

My iPhone crashes a lot more than any of my Galaxies did. You may ask why I have an iPhone after all that? It integrates with my hearing aids better, thats the only reason, if it wasn't for that, I would have a Galaxy or Pixel.
