I saw a Bentley with a roof rack at the trailhead a few weeks ago, everyone there was talking about how awesome it was lol theres something satisfying about using the wrong tool to get the job done sometimes.
I understand, it's just not me. You alluded to it, I am a "right tool for the job" kinda guy. If it's the only tool I own, then I make do and it's acceptable. However, I will never see a Bentley as my only car.

I have a hitch mount double rack from 1up-USA. So simple, fast and sturdy. Love it.

I love 1up racks as well, awesome. BUT they look like I could make one in my garage. Raw and industrial, that's the look.

I'd always be afraid of roof racks. Forgetting and driving into the garage issues etc.

I have a rear mounted bike rack.

I’ve seen a few pics of people snapping frames from seatposts hitting. Definitely makes me cringe,

When I had my roof rack I would always place a large traffic cone blocking the entrance to my garage. After a long day of riding and driving the last thing I wanted was to brain fart my way into the garage. I knew a couple who sheered their custom bikes off that way.

Now with the family bikes I rear mount them.

Yakima used to make a magnetic, spring loaded, reminder. You stuck it on your hood with the magnetic, and when you slowed to 5 mph or less, the wind couldn’t fight the spring and the “flag” would pop up to remind you of bikes on the roof.

My old e39m5 with $24,000 with of bikes — rack was tested well into 6th gear many times across the Western States.

In addition to the 4 bar system we use on our LandCruiser that I posted earlier, I’m still using this 2 bar system on our current m5. And the same trays are interchangeable to the Audi factory roof system on our other car.

Hitch mounts are great but too single dimensional for our needs.

Always wondered on highway trips do those roof racks and bikes whistle and create weird wind issues.

I put a lightbar above the windshield of my Jeep and caused all sorts or issues. Nose, vibration etc. I ended up taking it off.

Yes when I have the double up on top with 2 bikes, you can hear a humming noise but not very much. It really only does it when you get up in some high speeds and cross winds....I love my seajackers and put 1000's of miles on vehicles with not ever a single issue.. In Sri Lanka the highway patrol has pulled me over a few times and grab a hold of it, shake my car back and forth then ask me where my front where is..? HAH.. I get a lot of people out in the villages that point at the roof of my car as we drive by because I think I am the only one on "The Emerald Isle" with a Seasucker Roof racks..

20/30 years ago there were no options.

Today, there are so many quality options for everyone’s needs.

Gotta love it!

Seasucker makes a super high end roof mount for fancy sports cars with very small roofs and very little surface area to mount a rack. Its called the Seasucker KOMODO all out of C&C Aluminum...

What’s the name of that brand using huge suction cups to hold bikes on top of car roofs?
