Purchased a 104 E Pre-owned... your opinions on this situation pls

I purchased this pre-owned, NOT on TRF, so no one known here, Just to clearify.

It arrived today and to my surprise I noticed some debris at 6 and 12, photos below.

First, Is this normal? Does this happen?
Second, would you make a stink?
Is it fixable, and if so, what do you think it would cost?

The big question is..."Was this disclosed prior to you paying for it?"

If you knew it was like this prior to the sale, then yeah it is ok and you should have paid less. If you thought you were getting a perfect dial, then no, you got scammed IMHO. Depending on your answer to the question above, you are fine or you need to contact the seller immediately.

The dial would have to be replaced to fix by Panerai btw.

The watch was sold as "near perfect" "worn 10 times"

I called a local Panerai dealer, he told me that it's very rare that debris or discoloration would be on the dial. He said a typical service runs $400.

I'd contact the seller immediately and say the watch is not as described. It is not "near perfect" by any means. That is a pretty big flaw IMHO.

Also, that $400 service call is for no parts. The dial would run more money.

If it were me, I'd contact the seller, show him the pics and ask him to explain/rectify as politely as possible.

Do you have a link to the original post where it was sold? If so, PM me the link as we shouldn't bash the seller if he rectifies this problem. Best to give him a chance to clear it up. Maybe he didn't know about the problem and will compensate you or give you your money back. That is the mark of a good seller.

I'll be quite worried coz it is unlikely dust could enter the sealed watch. It could point to the case being opened previously and not assembled under the right conditions. I would bring the watch to the service center and have it checked.

Yeah... I'm going to loupe it and try to determine if it's debris, or staining on the lume

Also, I'm seeing flaking/debris on the
11 (lower left side of indice)
1 (all over indice)
7 (lower right side of indice)
indices as well.

That dial, looks (I can't tell for sure b/c I just have these pics) flawed.

(btw, responded to your PM)

I looked at it under a loupe, it's like copper colored flakes in there. A few all around the dial really, it you look at it under bright light.

I'm contacted them, I'm not too worried, I required that it be done through ebay, their new resolution service is really top notch, If he does not comply, they refund themselves.

I've filed a dispute through ebay at this point, requesting to return it for a full refund.

I, what I think, fully wound it yesterday morning at 8:30am, let it sit, this morning it stopped... Anyone know how many turns of the crown fully winds a 104?

Chris, if it is fully wound it should last at least 40 hours. Does the watch comes complete with papers and certificate? That should tell you the authenticity of the watch.

It has nothing from the dealer really, sold as with papers but has no warranty card or receipt (he claims they were thrown out by his wife)

How many turns of the crown will fully wind this?

when buying a pre-owned Panerai watch i would always bring it to the richemont service center for verification (about US$60). gives me a peace of mind that i am paying for the real thing.
