In USA it is month/date/year. 10/10/14. But it can be confusing so in the military we write it 10 Nov 14 so there can be no mistake.

Well, the letter came while I was out of town and with the Holiday here I haven't even opened it yet.

Wanted to do so when I had a chance to document it properly.
