Discounts at Cartier?

Hello forum!

It’s common to see threads about possible or common percentage discounts at Rolex or Omega

Do any of you know of a common discount for a Cartier watch?

Have any of you bought one with a discount

Because I know it depends on the watch... I like the Cartier tank in yellow gold but with a bracelet

Like this:

(Not my photo)

msrp for that watch with bracket is $23k

What discount if any would you guys expect or ask for?

Thanks

Official Cartier owned boutiques will not discount at all. A few years back Cartier ADs did here in the states, but then Cartier removed their AD network in order to move to a boutique only model. Shortly after, they realized that was mistake and then brought back some ADs on the condition of no more discounts.

I was looking at a Santos de Cartier and was offered 10% off at an AD. I tried another AD and he told me no discounts on Cartier. I have no reason to doubt the second guy as he then pointed out all the brands they carried that could be discounted.

So, I guess it comes down to the individual store.

The AD told me their standard offer was 5% off on Cartier. They offered me 5% off on a Tank XL. I pointed out that the Jomashop price was $3250. They countered with $3200, which I accepted.

My AD that is a block away added Cartier because they lost Rolex. They put in huge display. I drive past the store every day I always look I have not seen a person over on that side of the building yet. They just got the display in Nov 2019.

I don't think there's as much room to discount Cartier as with other brands. Most dealers I've talked to have been 0-15% unless it's got a very high MSRP and these are dealers that will do considerably better on other brands. Many models are, however, fairly soft on the secondary market although Tanks tend to hold their value better.

To expand - the Cartier boutique in Boston told me "no discounts".
DavidSW manage to get me a good discount on a NIB Tank solo XL.
I imagine some other trusted sellers could do the same.

I contacted one of the ADs I worked with outside of Rolex who carries Cartier. I was told we can look at about 10%, but I am sure they can do a little more. I hope that helps

Have bought 2 for my wife, a tank in Singapore and a ballon bleu in Japan, both times no discounts were given (I tried) but I did get the VAT refund.

A few months ago, was helping a friend/colleague pick a watch for his son. Cartier boutique won’t discount. The AD was willing to go down 25% on the models we picked out, and I got a sense they could go deeper.

Cartier used to discount in their boutiques but not any more. Your best bet is an AD.
