I Have A Limit Of £300 To Spend On A New Watch For My Birthday . I Was Going To Get A Seiko Black Monster For £110 Brand New From a H . Samuel Jewler and have money left over , But then I passed by a vintage clock shop and in the window they had a vintage pristine Omega Automatic Sea master On a nice leather strap which costs £275 . I will probably go for the Omega Beacause Its An Omega And At That Price . What do You Guys and Gals Think ?

With all due respect to SEIKO, if it's a toss up between those two, I'd go the OMEGA way!!

For a normal Seamaster automatic, that is not really cheap but of course the UK is more expensive.
If I had to choose between Seiko and Omega ... takes me 0.1 seconds to make up my mind ... Omega!

Seiko is a good quality time piece with rich history....

Still, it can't really compete with the Omega

I've owned both and they're both great watches. But, the Omega is in a different class. I love my Seamaster and don't ever see myself being without it. So, my vote goes to the Omega

Even though I love Seiko (I have three with a fourth on its way from singapore) I couldn't pass up an Omega at that price.

Owning two vintage Omega's and loving them completely I would say go for the Omega, one word of caution though. I do find that one needs to be a bit more mindfull of the delicacy of the old watches so if it is going to be an everyday knock about watch then you can't go wrong with the Seiko, if though you want something special and can be a little more delicate with it go for the Omega. those old movements are wonderful.
My oldest one is61 years old and keeps fantastic time, mind I do not wear it when it is wet as I find it is sensitive to damp conditions! bit like me really

I will be the contrarian here. On a limited budget the Seiko is definitely the way to go. Of course the Omega is a quality watch but so is a Rolex for that matter. Everything that has been said is true but with a vintage watch you are looking at a completely different animal than a brand new Seiko Monster.

It all depends on what you are looking for and what your budget is. The Omega could be a reliable workhorse for many years but it could also need some expensive maintenance. The Monster will likely be a maintenance free workhorse that you can forget and wear for many years. The Omega has more gravitas but potentially more $$ involved down the road. Function vs. ....

I have an Orange Monster and it's a decent watch, but at the same time, it's not in the same class as Omega. If I were you, I would buy the Omega.

I have owned a couple of Seikos and currently have the Black Monster - a good watch and great value. I'd dump it in a heartbeat for an Omega though.
