Seiko is upping the ante with this piece.

It's going to space, and it's being developed with the Russian Space Agency (should note that the RSA has an agreement with Fortis, just like NASA does with Omega).

It's a true tool piece, with a the highly regarded Spring Drive movement.

Another cool feature of the Spacewalk is the pushers are setup so they can be used while wearing spacesuit gloves! With the crown and pushers up top, I bet it's super comfortable.....

At 100 units total and probably all spoken for among the closely connected, I'd say the MSRP is pretty much meaningless. Bummer, because I really like it.

Maybe if there is enough of a squak for these they will make them in mass quantity for the general public. Here's hoping for the best. If the demand is there maybe price will go down. I'll be standing in that same line.

Of course, you make a very good point. I'd be in line with you too.

I often think of all of these limited editions to be like the AP Royal Oak Offshore LEs. They just soar in the aftermarket ( a $20K watch instantly a $60K+ watch) and AP never goes back into production on them. I try to put them from my mind as a result.

Seiko have been very strict about how they handle limited editions. If it's limited, it's limited. If a limited reference makes it into serial production, then by definition it's not limited anymore is it? Those owners of the so-called limited editions would be mightily pissed off. If AP did that, they would lose a whole chunk of their market immediately.

If Seiko puts something into production based on limited edition, it would be just that... based on a limited edition with the appropriate modifications, evolutions that would not detract from the original edition.

You are absolutely right. Limited means Limited. I would also be mad if they made one that detracted from the limited nature of what I just acquired. They do make similar watches of ones that are limited and my hope is that they will do the same with this watch. Enough of a change that it won't detract from the limited nature of the other watch but with the same features of the one here.
