Icon7 Just for Fun

Hey all,

The recent vintage Rolex ad thread inspired me to use my own pictures for some vintage ads. I know they're not perfect. I was just having some fun since I am bored. I wish I paid $295 and $225 for my watches!

I hope you're all enjoying your 4th!

That's cool. I wish they kept up the Concord program.....Fast flights seem awesome. Unless I am mistaken it was retired because of one crash? Someone give me a history lesson :)

The 2000 Air France crash certainly didn't help the passenger numbers for the airplane, but its fate was probably already sealed by that point. Airbus had basically shut down the maintenance program and the airplane was incredibly inefficient in regard to fuel burn. Plus with zero competition there had been little to no innovation on the airplane at all over its lifespan, and its 1950s and 60s technology was wildly outdated by 2003 when it was retired. Must have been a cool ride across the Atlantic in its day though.

Thanks Sky! It would be cool if they updated the technology and build something with a similar speed or faster for commercial use! I would pay extra it a plane got me to my destination that much quicker. Jet lag is brutal.

Nicely done!

But in the first ad, PanAm never flew the Concorde, did they?

If you're ever in New York City, there's a Concord (serial number: 100-010 (G-BOAD) on the pier where the USS Intrepid is moored. You can board it, sit in the seats, check out the cockpit controls (which are entirely analog!) and get a great history lesson from one of the guides. It was genuinely fascinating.

But, oh man, it is one very narrow plane.

Thanks! I will add that to the list when I vacation in NY :)
