18038 oxblood thoughts

Hi all, was told this is a single owner safe queen oxblood unpolished set.
Care to give some opinions of the dial? Original or refinished?
Dial polished or unpolished?

The dial appears to be OK - I haven’t heard of polishing a dial so can’t comment. But it doesn’t appear to be refinished.

For a safe queen, it seems to have lost its original band though. Maybe a clue is in paperwork?

The diamond bezel is maybe aftermarket. The diamond size & count is what you’d want to check. Stella dials came on fluted bezel usually (18048’s had diamond bezel but not the reference you mentioned) so I can’t say much more about the bezel.

Here’s a shot from a Sotheby’s auction of an 18048 in 2015. You be the judge.

Bezel looks aftermarket to me. I wouldn't pay any more for an aftermarket diamond bezel.

Case and dial look really good to me.

All comes down to price of course.

yes, was verified the diamond bezel is after market.

confirmed watch comes with leather strap then only, no bracelet, trying to find the old box, was told receipt is inside.

so what is a good price now for head only?

The dial doesn’t look like a Stella to me. Can you provide close up of day and date window? Looks refinished.

Is it being sold as an oxblood Stella dial? It’s painted rather than a proper Stella enamel type coating. I’m not sure if this is a Rolex finish to be honest or it’s a redial. I’m not an expert on Day-date fonts to comment on whether they are correct:
