Hands on the 5270P

Looks like a dream piece. Metallic salmon dial and soft black Arabic and pyramid markers.

Not for me. We can discuss details privately.

This article is just bad.. jesus...

"Ben noted in his original story that the 5270 has been made with a salmon dial before, but this was the white gold model (the 5270G) and it was made in very limited quantities in 2015, to celebrate Patek's Grand Exhibition in London" - wrong. 5970G salmon were made for London....

" It's still too big for me as a daily wearer, but that's just a question of personal taste." - typical watch blogger comment instead of saying what he really thinks....

"Thank goodness the "chin" is gone on this model or I wouldn't even be writing this story." - lol

From what I’ve seen, I really like it. With that said, I will reserve final judgement until I see it on my wrist.

It's a very nice looking watch I will say that. Salmon and platinum are hard to say "no" to. It just seems very expensive to me and for the same money you can get something else. Also how many will be made? I know we all are told very limited, but then....

Beautiful piece. Gets my vote as the best piece at SIHH/Basel this year.

Not according to the owners of the pieces. But I guess we will never really know since they were definitely offered at the London Exhibition.

Hello! I was just referencing what I believe to be a mistake/error in the hodinkee article where the author says they made 5 5270G with salmon dials..... Maybe they corrected it by now, not sure.

I understand, it should say 5970G, but I was just adding that owners of these 5970G’s suggest they weren’t made for the London Exhibition although they were offered for sale.

Wow... I don't even like Salmon dial and I love this. The Arabic numeral indices also address one of the biggest criticism of the 5270 series, ie that the dial is unbalanced.

Thanks for sharing Neil.

This is my dream piece too! If only I can afford

A few weeks ago, I started a poll to choose between 5270P and 5740G, and here is the final result:

2018-04-17_8-22-28.png

The 5270P beat the 5740G with 58% of votes vs 41% for the 5740G

I love the 5270, the Perpetual Chrono is the finest example of Patek. The 5270G-018 is probably my favorite watch of all time. White gold, silver opaline dial, in house chrono, tachymeter scale, it doesn't get any better. This salmon dial in platinum is also quite the looker.

Can't get over the asymmetry of numbers on top and none below. I love the salmon color dial but would have preferred sticks and dots to mark the hours.

I agree, otherwise very bottom heavy, and nice to see Breguets avoided for once.

I was thinking the same thing. 5 numbers only - surely sticks would have been better. Still like it though.

Sometimes you can love a watch but you also know buying it is a mistake. This watch falls in that category.

Yes the salmon dial 5970G was part of the limited range of watches made for the London Exhibition. There was a price list for these watches posted on the forum at the time.

There have also been previous versions of the 5970G with salmon dial which I believe were made to order for VIP clients.
