Is anyone an owner or familiar with his watches? I’m intrigued by them. The quality of finishing, at least from internet images, seems unparalleled except for a very few.

Their watches are extremely well finished. I personally like their skeletonized AK06. Akrivia, Gronefeld and Romain Gauthier are my trinity for independent watches

Maybe? As much as Rolex has, I suppose.

The cases, for example, on the Chronomètre Contemporain are made by J.P. Hagmann - the same person who used to make the cases for Patek's minute repeaters, including the 3939 - exclusively for Mr. Rexhepi.

The series of the Chronomètre Contemporain is, sadly, fully allocated.

The finishing is other worldly: right up there with the very best of the best. Think Dufour Simplicity, and done entirely by hand unlike whatever other high-end popular band you are thinking of.

I'm not familiar with the brand, though I've seen pictures of the Akrivia Chronomètre Contemporaine appear here and there. The dial looks striking, while I find the overall aesthetic to be incredibly appealing.

It’s my favorite watch currently, especially the black dial, gold case.

Great watches. A master at work. A young one at that, with a very long career ahead.

That said, the business end of things leave a bit to be desired. Common problem with newbies, in my opinion, but ordering is difficult, delivery is difficult, and their interactions with US-based retailers is difficult.

They have been taking names since this past November for this release.

So, I've been on the list of the new release and I am pretty sure I am one of the first as I almost made the cut for the first run. The current version being delivered already has the sunken sub dial, different colour printing and a few cosmetic changes to the movement (finishing choices).

The one in the photos, I believe is a 1/1, in steel and Rexhepi's personal one, which was a prototype but circulated for press photos, which is where this photo is likely from.

Note the sub-dial difference and the colour of the printing.

Talking to Annabelle at Akriva (she is essentially the gate keeper ) the new version of the CC will be in the "same spirit" as this version but I don't know much beyond that. We will have to wait until Basel World.

There was also an announcement in September 2019 about the partnership with Jean-Pierre Hagmann and him making the case for the Only Watch version. I believe all CC's now have the "JPH" hallmark on them indicating they were made by him. But again, it is tough for me to know 100% at this time.

What are your thoughts between the two dial variations?
Older vs newer darker font and sunken seconds?

Between the white and black dial? For me, personally, I preffer the white dial on the platinum case but I wouldn't turn down the other option. Bother are lovely.

I was referring to the white dial original vs current.

From pictures, I am not quite sure how I feel about the recessed subdial?

Ah, my mistake. I don't think the non-recessed dial was ever for production. My understanding is that it was a prototype dial, never sold, and only on the steel prototype which is on Rexhepi's wrist. All the production ones have the recessed seconds dial. I much preffer it, personally, and feel it was the correct choice.

Great piece but I'd prefer the version w/o recessed subdial. My eyes always get stuck on the recessed subdial rather than the whole dial when I look at pics of the production model.

Have handled the watches in person, both a production piece CC, AK-06 and RR own’s personal watch as shown above.

Personally the CC would be my choice and that would be solely driven by anticipated resale market; by that I don’t mean price I really the size of the market / potential buyer pool. It’s a classic round watch, sized right and extremely well finished. Lots of potential buyers. Versus the AK which are a really cool look and something unique to own and wear but for which the market of buyers is small if you ever needed to offload it.

I’m also on the list but not holding my breath and I know several people in my small circle that have committed to AK’s in addition to the new CC and therefore will be first in line.

It is a sensational piece, and the new series should be announced soon.

BUT, when the company only intends to produce 35 watches per year across all their model range, everyone should expect a long (well worth it) wait...

Good question. I'm on the list for the next wave of allocations ("series 2"). Supposedly he was dishing out allocs in January, but from what I've heard, that hasn't happened yet.
