Facebook Unfriend
I started friending people from many years ago on Facebook, and it seems all they talk about is politics and religion which is fine but it seems its annoying as thats all they talk about. So, my question is if I unfriend them do they know I removed them from my list of friends and wall? Also, since they acquired me as a friend do I still remain friends and do my updates show up on there wall?

No, they don't know. You are just mysteriously absent.

You could remain their "friend" and just press the "X" at the top right of their status in your news feed. I have blocked a lot of people's status updates.
Feels good, man. |

I've been stealth unfriended before. It scarred me for life, and here I was thinking this person cared. Don't do it

I ditched the web site 7 months ago and never looked back. I prefer to live in the real world and enjoy the company of real friends....which I found out I have none.

I will befriend anyone who asks, but I don't follow the board and I don't play any games, like the "Truth Game" that I got invited to today.
The "game" wants access to all kinds of stuff with the promise that "they" won't abuse it. I don't think so.

Facebook is good and bad. I pretty much don't like anything about it, except that it has helped me reconnect with some old friends, and even (when used with ancestry.com) some 3rd cousins in England. I don't play any of the games or other dumb stuff. I have a few people on ignore, and they are all the type that think their life is interesting reading. I mostly use it for the feeds from companies and entities that I like (Guinness, my company, Baltimore Ravens, etc.)
I try not to friend anyone that I see every day. I have mine locked down big time. |

I stay away from FB. Around my office the only use I've seen for it is finding embarrassing material to ding interviewees.

You can create a folder for your deadbeat friends. Put all the less desirables in the folder and than change your privacy settings so that the people in that group can't post on your wall, see your updates, photos, etc. That way they seem to be your friend, but are blocked. You can give them as much access as you want. Any time a friend sends me a request from the latest game, etc or updates with constant garbage, I just block the updates. Easy enough.
Of course the easy answer is only to friend people you want in the first place, and not to be a friend whore.

I generally "strongly dislike" facebook. Mostly because all of my "friends" always brag about how well they are all doing, how there are doing this and that, etc. Then you get the girls that always update thier status every 10 seconds. Most of the time with quotes about how they will "one day find the right guy", and "I will not be treated like crap", yada yada.
I got rid of my Facebook account because of it (Drama). It's simply overrated. |

I don't see anything wrong with FB. It is a good way to share pictures with tons of friends at the same time.
If you don't like something, don't read it. Just like threads here. If you don't like them or find them silly, ignoring them is the best way. I go on FB every 3 or 4 weeks or when someone tells me to go and see some new pictures of a party or a new baby. I don't get into the games or anything else. If I want to discuss something with someone, I call them. It is pretty simple really.

I don't participate in facebook. No one there talks about Rolex watches.

I guess I should amend my statement to include that I befriend anyone who asks, whom I know.
If I get a request from someone I don't know, then too bad.

Some people keep track so when you de-friend them they do notice. Most of my old crew of workbuddies de-friended me I can only assume becuase I spent too much time talking about watches and gucci loafers and the like. But who knows? Some spend $70 a night on drinks some save up for half a week and buy gucci loafers.
