16570 vs 1948 Seamaster LE (central seconds)
I have a deposit down for the omega 1948 seamaster limited edition. Supposed to be finally released in February, but I’m having second thoughts about it. Will be going to japan soon, so contemplating picking up a 16570 white at Jack Road.

Imho not comparable
Omega is more classy I’d go with the Omega but that’s without context about your collection ... |

That omega is stunning, didn’t they make one with sub seconds? I would choose the seamaster

Are you in “either-or” mode?
If you can swing it I’d get both - they are miles apart stylewise Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Omega hands down, though they aren't really comparable watches. The Omega case looks like cases used for the bumper autos from the 40's. Think I'd prefer sub seconds though, the second hand looks like in belongs on a 60's Seamaster.

I would love to get both, but unfortunately I'm in a strictly either-or situation =(.
As for my current "collection" (not sure if you can call it that), I have a 2017 Explorer I and an old DateJust (from early 1980s). I'm thinking about getting the Omega first regardless as it's a LE, then I can always sell it if I end up not liking it? As for the sub-seconds, it looks like at first glance, but the minute and hour hands looked too alike...plus, the central seconds looks more classier imho. |

Bear also in mind that in respect of LE Omega does not mean anything. Surely Seamster 1948 will be available at discount after being released. Did you see the printed back of the same? I saw both versions of Seamaster 1948 and wasn’t in love at all. Strap and buckle as well. Looked cheap to me. I can not say anything of Explorer though as I have not seen it alive.

I hate the printed back, but I won't see it when wearing the watch, so I don't mind too much. Where did you get to see the watches in flesh?? Do you mind elaborating what made you think they look cheap? This is quite disappointing to hear.....at least my deposit is fully refundable =) |

Omega probably sell more Limited Editions than non-limited ones.

I'd buy the original if you're interested in that 1948 reissue, proper size and cheaper with actual patina from being a vintage piece.

Do you want the date and GMT function? Those two watches dont really overlap, IMHO. If you have an exp 1 already then you kinda have the seamaster covered unless you really want a dressier watch. The 1948 is beautiful but would be rarely worn for me (I have an inherited seamaster deville that looks somewhat similar) while my 16570 is a daily driver.
