Partial winding

Recommended in the Rolex manual, partial wind first if watch is not running.

What is the negative impact if do not partial wind a sleeping watch?

Normally will be in a rush in the morning and just pick up any watch and go. Only do the time adjustment when situation allows, by the time the watch already moving result from hand movement.

Sorry if this had already been asked before, somehow cant find the thread.

There is no problem manually winding any Rolex watch at any time and to fully wind and set it must take all of 30 seconds to do.Always best to wind a stopped watch at least 30 full crown turns clockwise only before wearing.

I cant see any issue other than that the watch wouldn't keep great time. Watches usually run fast when near unwound.

. . .
There is no negative impact except that your watch will not be running in the optimal part of it's power curve.

Same either way. You won't damage the mainspring or barrel from hand winding even if you over do it. A winder, that's different.

Thanks for the trigger, will do some sample observation on time running of wound and unwound versions.

The reversing wheels in the automatic unit spin A LOT faster when hand wound. It you make it a habit of hand winding your watch, especially to 100%, you're going to rapidly add wear to those wheels.

And they are not cheap to replace, correct?

Without a parts account. Best I've found is around $120.00 EACH. Not sure what a RSC charges for the whole job though.
