Revisiting the Ford GT350

I can't seem to get it out of my mind.

I am thinking about trying to negotiate on this car. I know the owner of the dealership pretty well. So far, he has not budged but I have not yet tried very hard.

My question is this: do you guys believe the hubbub will mellow and the cost will settle? If so, any thoughts as to where you think it will be?

Will waiting see me with a better price, or a lack of inventory because they will all be gone?

Curious as to what you guys think.

I can't stomach paying 20k over list.

If they would work with me at 10k, I think I could get my mind around it.

This is my current problem.

If you wait a coulple months he will do it, remember in Jan-April dealers are very busy and dont "need" money due to tax season. I will bet you he will sell@ or below list first week of May.

Go in and talk to the owner face to face. It's harder to say no to a customer face to face. The worst he can say is no.

Buying a car in the US is really a pain... negotiations, "check it with my manager", leaving you waiting, "how much are you willing to pay?", etc. etc...

Seth, don't pay a penny above sticker... be patient and you'll be saving money... my two cents.

Good advice here guys.

I'll give it a shot again, but ultimately stick to my guns and shoot for list price.

I would also stick to list. Have you tried calling dealerships nationwide?

Why not fly to where the car can be had at the price you want?
Pay cash, pick up MSO as an out-of-state buyer and drive it home...

I wouldn't pay more than list for that car. Don't get me wrong I think it is fantastic, but for the money I really don't think you can beat a vette right now. From the base model to the Z06 you get the most bang for the buck (I'm also a corvette guy).

Also you can get the base model with 450 horse power ship it to calloway and put a supercharger on it and get it at 650 horse power for an extra 15k.

You can build a 700hp mustang for $40k from a Ford dealer and still have a factory warranty. Just won't have that glorious cross-plane sound

Revisiting the Ford GT350

Good luck --- I talked with a good friend of mine at a dealership - that I have done SIGNIFICANT business with over the years --- and they wouldn't budge either. They had an 'allocation' for one more at their dealership...

AND -- they wanted and IMMEDIATE $5k deposit AND $7500 over sticker. --- I quickly passed.

I wouldn't pay over list for ANYTHING, EVER.

I'm going the BMW - M route ---

Good luck -- I'm interested to hear how it all plays out.

Most I would pay is msrp. Paying anything over is burning money.

It's enticing. I want this car as well, seriously want to buy it, but this markup, allocation and haggling drama is just too stressful and would take the pleasure out of the purchase and ownership. I would feel cheated and taken advantage and have bitter sweet satisfaction at owning it.

The car is fantastic....but that markup will be burnt as soon as you drive it. In a year or two it will be a normal car and resale will be normal, i.e. you're gonna get hosed(it's not a 2015 SE).
With the retarded mark up this car bumps up the the M4/M3, AMG C63, New Corvettes, ATS-V, and then the many used cars around that number as well.

I know what you want to hear and I know what you want us to say but I'm in the "no" camp. MSRP is already a dealer profit, $5k MU is a dealer bonus, $10-20k MU is white collar crime.

If the car in your avatar were real - it would be worth a little more than MSRP.

Not saying a GT350 is the same thing as a Ferriari Daytona Spyder but the irony is rich.

Are you sure about that?

I looked on eBay just yesterday, when used they seemed pretty expensive.

I think at the end of the day, this is where I'm at.

It would take away from my enjoyment of the entire process.

I'm thinking something along the lines of the rapture and ford gt.

3.5L twin turbo with over 700 ponies.
