Thinking of buying a Tudor BB Bronze?

Ive got a nice collection of watches but always looking to add something different.
Ive got a vintage sub, a Speedy, Panerai, Breitling, Tag, Rado, IWC, but ive not got a Tudor.

Most of watches cover all of my needs but are mostly black faced with the exception of the Breitling Aerospace which is blue.
Bezels are all black on the tool/divers watches.

Im wondering if Bronze is my next thing? The Tudor BBB is tickling my fancy and the prices are good but they have plummeted from original RRP.

Im a bit OCD when it comes to matching my watch/strap to what im wearing and i dont wear much brown! Sounds a bit poncey i know!

Im really in a quandry!! Can anyone offer any advice on the watch, the brand, and how the bronze will patina etc. Cheers

Why not a BB 925?
I was in the same dilemma but there are so many other companies who make bronze so I went with the BB .925 and love it! The only thing I will say is the silver is more malleable than the bronze but that doesn't bother me as its not a watch I wear when I know I'll be doing dumb stuff. Its one of my casual weekend watches.
So far I love the patina its developing.

I'd be interested to understand how the 925 "patinas" (corrodes) over time and how easy it is to restore - over say Bronze.

Silver tarnish restores very easily with a little elbow grease.

It doesn't tarnish like typical Sterling Silver as Tudor uses a unique mix of metals (I can't recall what it is) but it doesn't have the typical copper in it. It's develops a nice patina very easily restored.

It still looks too similar to my other watches in my collection. Looking for something totally different . Hence the bronze question. However, no negative posts regarding the watch itself!

Since Tudor watches are now being sold on Amazon, the "exclusiveness" is somewhat disappointing. A number of years ago I had the desire for a bronze watch. I came across Steinhart watches and purchased a Bronze Diver. In general Steinhart watches are so called "Hommage" Rolex knock off's. Their Bronze diver is not a homage and is a fantastic bronze diver with much better lume than any of my Rolex's

I like the bronze Tudors. The bronze w black face and insert is great on the wrist, for me as I like the chunkier look. I also had the 925 but it just felt to dainty for me.

I'd look at a watch with a more neutral color base, if you like to match up better with what you're wearing. Good luck,

Totally understand your thought process, OP. Sounds like you and I have similar collecting ideas. I've purchased a couple bronze pieces: Shinola Bronze Monster and Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Bronze.

I highly recommend the Oris. It's such a great piece. Affordable, patinas well, and is versatile on strap or full bracelet. Added pics from day of purchase, then what it looked like after about 3 months of wearing it almost daily.

I love my Black Baby Bronze with grey dial on cloth strap. Perfect for swimming, beach, cycling... I admit it's a bit chunky, and wish it was the same size as the 58 bronze.

I dislike the brown dial and bezel of the current 58 bronze, however. If one day Tudor releases a greyish/black BBB 58 I will buy it.

I own the BB58 boutique bronze; it's my favorite watch. Tudor's choice for bronze alloy develops its patina in an entirely civilized fashion, none of that "steampunk" green gnarly patina like most of the other bronze watches out there (Rado, Oris, CW etc...) I think the Omega bronze is the only other one I'm aware of that keeps its patina so muted. I've had my BB58 for 5+ months now, and compared to new, the color tone has simply warmed up from the original almost-rose gold tone, to now a nice light brown/bronze tone, just wonderful.

Plus, you get all the other features that make the BB58 series so popular in the first place. Overall, it's a great watch.

Tudor's particular composition of bronze seems to my eyes to have the most pleasing patina over time of any brand. Some brands get spotty, but Tudor has a gradual darkening that just looks terrific. I tried one (Black Bay Bronze 43mm) on but felt with the strap it wore just a little bigger than I wanted it too and felt slightly top heavy. It's a beautiful watch though, and if it fits well on your wrist I would highly recommend it.

I like big watches so 43mm suits me perfectly. Thanks for the honest comments. Never been a fan of Oris. I do like pilot watches though. Id love the Zenith Pilot 20 but im not putting that much money up for this watch so the pre-loved BBB is in the right price bracket for me. Also it looks great on a NATO strap.

I had a bronze Tudor BB58 but sold it due to it turning my wrist green. I must secrete some pretty noxious sweat or something, I don't know. I mentioned it to the Tutor rep when I met him at a Tudor event my AD had, and I asked him about it. He said that this has been reported before. He said it goes away over time as the bronze patinas. I have an IWC pilot watch in bronze and there are no "greening" issues at all.

The greening reminded me of the cheap jewelry I won in the arcade at an amusement park when I was a child. That's why I sold it.

It happens if I wear mine non-stop for a few days. After removing it, there's a darker shade on my skin. Can't say if it's copper green or just gray dirt. It goes away with water. Doesn't happen with steel watches though.

There is some percentage of the population whose skin reacts when in direct contact with bronze, it is true. The irritation increases when sweating.

For the majority of people like me, I get the brown discoloration on my wrist after wearing it for a full day, that's it. 15 seconds with soap and water and it's gone, no big deal.

Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing which of the two groups you are in until you try wearing a bronze watch or jewelry for several days time. That's probably the main hurdle for considering something like the Tudor bronze watches.

So I bought the watch today. Got a right bargain. Never worn, still got the stickers on. Can someone please confirm, does the bezel have a slight up/down spring to it when you press on it?

Rolex watches are also being sold on Amazon in the US. Somewhat disappointing.

The .925 looks great on a NATO as well. I wear mine on an OD green one most of the time. I have actually never worn it on the included straps.
