Rolex 16750 spider dial- Reprinted or original??

Now i finally found a dial for my 16750

BUT when i compare the text on the dial with other 16750 dials, i see that the "X" in Rolex is not placed over "AL" in Perpetual like on the other ones (and mine).

Somebody here that can answer me if this is a original or reprinted dial?

If this is original i will offcourse be a happy man, but i also want to know if its only for some years they just this dial.

The seller says it`s 100% original Rolex and that there where many different prints on Rolex dials, and i want to trust this guy but i also want the correct dial for my watch.

My watch is a 1988 R-serial 16750.

Please see pictures:

1. Spider dial that im interested in
2. My watch
3-5. Internett photo of other 16750
6. Spider dial Zoom, the one im interested in.

Hm, maybe a service dial ? I donīt think that there were many different glossy 16750 dials.

I also think, that the L of "ROLEX" should be placed directly underneath the middle of the crown, as it is in the other pictures you showed us.

Thats true, i didn`t see that

I think i will look for another one, then i don`t have to go around and thinking if its original for the watch or not.

Thanks!

I don't understand. You want to replace a faulty dial with a different type of faulty dial?

To the OP, why don't you reach out to Springer? The guy is our best resource on GMTs. He will get you something worthwhile. This way you can have peace of mind that the dial up buy is legit and correct. So you only have to open and disassemble the case and movement once. Then sell the damaged dial on eBay and recover a big part of the cost of the clean dial.

Here is a photo of the only "spider" dial that I have in my files. It looks like the one from the first post.

Interesting!

Could it be then that where a period of time they used different paint and print, and that its these ones that turn into spider dials?

I think so. It is obviously a defect in the paint, or the process in how the paint was applied or mixed by the manufacturer.
