1016 Explorer Supply

Have always been a huge fan of the 1016. Its no nonsense presence coupled by its unobtrusive proportions is just something to yearn for from a bygone era.

Since it was produced for almost three decades, how come they're so hard to come by?

Take the 16570 for example, they were produced for almost 2 decades and the pre-owned market is flooded with them.

Anybody here have thoughts on this matter?

Was the 16750 produced for two decades? I thought it came after the 1675 and always had it as an '80s reference in my head. Did it go until through the '90s?

1016s are not that hard to find but as already noted, finding one in primo condition is next to impossible.

The 1016 market is once again...hot because..everything else got too expensive and there was no margin left in the 5513 and everything else. The same phenomenon going on with the 1675 presently.

1016's became very hot in the 90's...then died.

Now they are on the up again as they are easier for dealers to buy cheap and hype for lots.

jmho

The reason you haven't been able to find many in the market place is because they were price depressed and people were even upside down in them.

When an average correct matte 1016 is worth over 13k then a proper 6610 should be worth 25k

6610 trumps 1016 gilt all day long.

I totally agree with Tommy. And then I have a 1016 as well..

This is what happens when something goes out of reach. We have seen it with other models and even other brands before. Just see how UG chronos got super hot after Daytonas went crazy. Now Heuer chronos go the same path..

Still everyone should get a 1016 as it is a nice watch. Just don't trick yourselves.

Hello

I was looking at one just recently but passed since I decided to keep my $$ for another item on my radar.

But I will tell you...the watch that you describe is the watch that I almost bought. It was in extremely good condition. Minimal wear on any surface, very clean dial...few and far between and on reason it sold in just a few days.

I am happy I got to handle the watch and see it up close and personal to appreciate it.

Be patient and one will pop up...unfortunately those that do pop up are not typically from private collections and your typical online sale people will gouge you. I have seen some listed for almost 15k...at that point just buy a ceramic Daytona:)

Interesting, I have never thought of it like that before.
