Show us your vintage Date!

Would like to see some of your vintage Rolex Dates...

Here's my own Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date c.1952... Model 1502... In 18k (750) yellow gold, with 18k (750) Rolex buckle. I just recently bought a new Rolex strap for this and am loving it as an everyday watch!

Ah... The picture is deceiving. The hands are all gold... Here they look black because of the lighting.

Nice watches friends!!

I feel that the Date model, is a very nice, classic and underrated model, wich deserves more attention from users and collectors.
Of course, 34 mm diameter case, is a bit "small" for todays standards and trends, but I love to wear my two examples, from time to time.
The full gold one, is my "lucky watch", wich I wear only in special occassions, and always for the 24th and 31st of December, as an old custom of mine.
It was a present from my wife, who bought it brand new in 1982, at a local AD, for an anniversary.

The other one, is a black dialed all steel watch of 1966 vintage, which is extremely accurate. This is a very low profile watch, and an elegant one, I feel.

Thanks for opening this thread, and best cordial regards, Abel.

Here's my 1985 white dial with romans Date model, engine turned bezel, acrylic crystal and oyster bracelet,
I'm the original owner.
My first Rolex.
I have since added:

16750 GMT Pepsi (1987)
1603 TT Datejust (1988)
16600 Seadweller (2006)
A few Breitlings
A few Tudors
But the Date will always be my "first"

1965 1500

I have not had an opportunity to post this watch here but some of you may know that it was my first Rolex.
After boot camp at the Naval Training Center in San Diego CA I felt the need to acquire the trappings of adulthood.
On a low budget and with little or no in depth knowledge of the Rolex product line I took this hostage.
Literally rode hard and put away wet it languished in the keepsake bin until resurrected at Rolex Beverly Hills.

The date is one of my favorites. That is why I gave it to one of my favorite people, my girlfriend.

Very peculiar hands and bezel. Were they common in the 60's?

Dial and hands have been changed on this 1603 but I love the hint of gold and leather strap. I'm not a purist so it's fine for me. :)

Splendid watches guys!

Mine from 1962 has a roulette date wheel on a 1030 movement. Looking through this post at some mint 1500's from the mid-sixties without the roulette wheel, I wonder outloud if the 15XX' movements never had it.

Cheers,
Rick
