1968 GMT Master Pepsi Repair
I inherited my watch from my father. It stopped working took it to a Rolex dealer in Seattle. They explained to me due to its age and for the main plate it will need to be sent to Switzerland. The individual that I am dealing with stated Rolex may replace the face and bezel because of fading and diminish it's value? He stated this is what Rolex does, is this true? Plus the price tag is $2000 for the service and parts.

That is very true. Do not send to RSC as they make your vintage watch look new and destroys value usually.
There are many CW21 Rolex technicians around who specialize in vintage. Right on this forum is Rik as well as others. Probably someone in your area as well. Tread carefully and discuss what is to be done with whoever you find. m |

Don't use RSC for your vintage GMT. I would not replace the bezel, hands, dials, etc. Just get it services by a preferred shop.

New to the site. I am in a similar situation with a 1968 GMT Master Pepsi (albeit very faded). Movement does work, but missing the crown. I also have some original documentation, including the Watch Rate Certificate. Are you able to recommend someone on the US East Coast? Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard
As mentioned above, we recommend you do not send to Rolex unless you want them to crush the value of the watch by installing all new parts. LA Watch Works Watch Internatiional RIK Dietel Tommy Fantastic Time It will be pricier than a local place, likely less than Rolex, and they will enhance the value of the watch. Rolex will trash the value from a collector's standpoint. Very good job asking for recommendation, unfortunately we usually get people after they have sent to Rolex, which while doing a good job, replaces all the great parts with generic new stuff.
