Is this a correct 1958 Air king ?

This is Reported to be a Rolex Air King from 1958 the case ref No, 5500 with a 1530 calibre movement, I note that "Rolex" is missing from the dial... so the big question is this correct or not? all opinions welcome.

The dial is either a redial or it has been washed. The wording above Air-King is missing as well as SWISS at the bottom. The dial looks like the correct style for 1958 though.

Cool watch regardless!
My 1960 1030 super precision is attached as well as a side by side...my GUESS is that the Air King and Super Precision are correct & and Rolex is washed on the dial.
As to the crown, I can't tell if it's a correct frog foot or just an incorrect addition. Again, not an expert but I feel I have seen the dial before, sharkstooth perhaps?
Hands hard to tell from picture.
Enjoy it! I'd wear it as is if it keeps time; undercover cool with out the Rolex name but other features.

Here is a picture of my 1958 Air King 5500. It's a slightly different dial configuration with 3,6,9 Arabic numerals and longer arrowhead markers. I believe your watch would have originally read "Rolex" and "Oyster Perpetual" above the Air-King portion. The previous poster is correct about "Swiss" not being labeled at the bottom, either.

I am no expert, so others are free to chime in. But I wonder if those are the original hands or if they have been replaced at some time.
