Dear all,

This one has a serial of 1.4mil and said to be from 1966. Does it have the so called "long E" and "long L"? is everything right? or it is a replaced dial?

Still a bit early but if we are even to discuss it you would want to see a mk1 matte dial. This is later.

It's wearing a Mark V replacement dial. Insert is a much later service part and the hands have been changed also. A "long E" dial is a Mark I dial with white lettering.

1.4 million is well within gilt dial territory.

Springer knows GMTs and I think the rule of thumb is anything within the 1.5m and prior serials should be gilt. 1.6m has some transitionals - arguably.

There are a "Mark 0" matte's as early as 1.38m but that's not this. Unless it's a Mark 0 matte with a small GMT hand, 1.4m is generally considered the late gilt range.

My past experience indicates the Mark 0 could be found in the high 1.4 million range. I know you have a GMT 1675 1.38 million Mark 0 on your web site but I'm not convinced about that watch and dial combination.
