Thoughts on a bezel insert

Hi all,

Seller is saying this is all original, pearl included.

Thoughts?

Thanks

It’s an original MK3 from the 70‘.
The pearl is hard to say from pic.

Thoughts on a bezel insert

Andy
Did you take some time with the excellent treatises on Sub inserts? Including the different eras/marks.

I see there are areas I’d focus upon before paying a large sum. Inserts are sometimes the most difficult to validate without macro’s of every numeral combination. Yet sometimes it’s easier to invalidate them.

On the pearl, it is too white to my eye to be almost 50 years old. I’d say not original. Could still be authentic, of course, but looks more like it’s been replaced.

The color alone isn’t a great way to invalidate it’s originality because the photos might have been lightened via photo enhancement. I guess you’ll know if you buy it and it glows in the dark.

The value from pearl is maybe 10% from MK3.
It looks a bit bright but I prefer a SL pearl instead no pearl.

Pearl looks like a Yuki replacement to me.

After a few months of looking I found a great insert and even a NOS trit pip which matches my dial and hands perfectly!

Completes to look

Thanks for advice
