Patek 5711 or Rolex 5513 gilt

"Simple" question, should I sell/trade my 5711 (2017, no it did not buy it from Patek before anyone asks.) and get a NICE 5513 Gilt. I have been looking for a nice 5513 GILT for a while now, and I think I am finally ready to pull the trigger on a nice looking 5513 GILT, but then the 5711 has to go. Whats your thoughts. I really could use some help here, I know this is the Patek part of the forum... but I might do a similar or exactly same thread on the Rolex Vintage part.

Since we are talking vintage we really need to see the gilt to assess how nice we are talking

Is it a straight trade? Blue or white 5711?

No way on earth. Vintage rolex is a lottery, vs a winner in the 5711

I’m not into vintage, so for me this question is submariner or 5711? I’d take the 5711 any day.

Further to that the 5513 is essentially a £6k watch that sells for a £20k premium (guessing a little here) on the market as no longer available at an AD. The 5711 is a £23k watch that also sells for a £20k premium on the market, so in that respect they offer similar value. The difference is that you can still buy the 5711 at rrp from an AD and I think that makes it a much better buy.

Better see the Gilt dial in person and “buy the seller”. I have heard horror stories about gilt dials being doctored up and Vintage can be very tricky. The 5711 if you part with it wont be easy to get back

It all depends on the 5513. If its a super mint 5513 gilt than I will pick it over a 5711 as its way harder to find. Otherwise 5711 wins on most 5513.

I love how this exact same poll in the Vintage forums the 5513 has the lead, but not as overwhelming as the lead the 5711 has here :)

All a matter of perspective I guess.

I don’t like the submariner, and am a fan of the 5711. So 5711.

I always think that if you want the Rolex to win, post on the Rolex sub-forum. If you want a Patek to win, post here.

Either way, expect lots of "Save and get both!!!!"

I would do that trade, but that's because I'm a sucker for vintage and I don't like the nautilus that much.

The more and more reading about fake vintages(the vintage watchmaker case, phony watches at auction houses, etc) the more happy i left that path(actually never really involved),rather a pp for msrp than a piece you admire and realize just years after that it s a piece of scrap for high$$$.
