Neil Peart Passed...

Am soooo sad... literally crying....

Peart never stopped believing in the possibilities of rock (“a gift beyond price,” he called it in Rush’s 1980 track “The Spirit of Radio”) and despising what he saw as over-commercialization of the music industry. “It’s about being your own hero,” he told Rolling Stone in 2015. “I set out to never betray the values that 16-year-old had, to never sell out, to never bow to the man. A compromise is what I can never accept.”

Not a huge Rush fan but as a fan of music it was impossible not to admire them and their talent. Each member was a prodigy and incredibly skilled. RIP

Probably one of the greatest percussionist in rock music. I had seen them 8 times in the eighties and they never disappointed

RIP Neil, and thank you.

Oh man. Been a RUSH fan for 30 years, and I was late to the game. Music lost one of The Great Ones today.

Agreed. Never been a Rush fan but that doesn't diminish the immense talent of the members, each an iconoclast. As well as ability of the band to survive decades in a business that calculates success in minutes.

RIP, NP!

OMG this is unbelievably sad news. Neil and Rush wrote the soundrack to my youth. Limelight was one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. I've been a major Rush fan for 40 years.

Godspeed, Legend. Will pour a good dram this evening.

Stunned for the pasty hour after hearing the news. Like a part of my youth has moved on without me.

I had the good fortune to bring my son to his first REAL concert, R40, in Boston in 2015.

Greatest Trio ever, arguably (and he is IMO) the best drummer ever.

If you get a chance to watch the recent RUSH documentaries, I highly recommend them.

Rush put Toronto on the map as far as progressive rock bands go. Neil was considered one of the best there was. Sad to hear he was privately fighting brain cancer and lost to it at 67.

Well said. Time is the most precious commodity we have.

Best band ever. Best drummer ever.

Really sad, sad news.

This was their last song from their last studio album. Very appropriate here.

RIP the legend.
