Changing the crystal of a 6565

Hi. I recently bought a 1955 Oyster Perpetual Ref. 6565. The watch is in good shape but the cristal is of a more modern era. I would like to exchange it for the original PA459-47C that corresponds to this vintage. I would like to do it myself. Is there any link that you could offer for me to have a set of instructions on how to do it properly without damaging this beautiful piece? Thanks!!

Welcome to TRF!

Why on EARTH would you wanna do it yourself??

No offense, but if you are in doubt of how to go about changing the crystal, then just don't mess around with it!

To be sure your watch is waterproof afterwards and everything is done correctly, I suggest you take it to an AD that has a Rolex-trained watch maker or have your AD send the Rolex to the nearest RSC.

Could you please post photos of the watch?

I'm with Bo. Play it safe and let a professional do the job.

If you've never done it before and don't have the experience, the knowledge or the proper tools, you will not only damage the watch....you will just about ruin it.

Take it in to a proper AD and he will sort you out!!

Good luck - JJ

I just took my old DateJust TT in for servicing last week. They took it apart while I was there, and I could hardly see some of the things that they were pointing out to me, gears, wheels, etc. I think you would want a load of experience, with a seasoned pro looking over your shoulder, before you took one apart on your own.
