Greetings from NorthCarolina, USA

I have just started to restore my Submariner 5512. s/87xxxx. I am the original owner (purchased Sept. 1963) and have the box, Swiss testing certificate (dated 3 MAI 1963), etc. I am finding the Rolex serial numbers confusing. I need a 4 line dial. Any help about this watch would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TRF.

Glad to have you and your 5512. Post some pictures of it so we can see the condition to date.

It might not be in your best interests to replace the dial..

Thanks for the "welcome aboard".
I can not post pix as my watchmaker has the watch now. The reason I need a dial is a lesson in stupidity on my part. Late 60's, I was in the Navy and my Sub took a shock ( I wore it 24/7 since purchase: college, Navy, diving) that caused the hand to rub on the dial, disfiguring it. I took it to an AD for replacement. The dealer returned it to me with a turn-o-graph dial (model 6202, I think). I don't remember the exact reason for this, but I was young, never thought about keeping it this long or collector value, and I was shipping out, so I did not object. So now I have a 5512 with the wrong dial.
I want to refurbish it and eventually pass it on to my daughter. I would love to find an original dial, but they seem just about impossible to find. I am also considering a refinished dial. I plan to sell the turn-o-graph dial after I replace it. It's in excellent condition. Any suggestions?

Welcome to TRF!

I hope you find it, and I gave you a link in the "General Rolex" forum.

Good luck!
