Florida meeting - let's get serious!

OK everyone. I'm going to say June 5th in Orlando.

Dan - can you get us set up with the Orlando Watch Co?

I'm not as familiar with Winter Park, any suggestions on a restaurant?

I just started a new job and am SWAMPED with training for the next 2-3 weeks. I would however DEFINITELY be interested, just a matter of if I could get the time off!

You're too sweet, Jen! Thank you. I think I should be able to, I'll probably have that weekend off.

That would just be too funny. This event becomes Chuck Norris approved.

Sorry, I just saw this thread....I can talk to scott @ Orlando Watch Co. to get this together. He mentioned he can do some catering and he has a courtyard at his shop where we can eat, drink, etc. etc.. He was HIGHLY interested in hosting this get together so I don't see any problems. As for restaurants, Winter Park is loaded with them up and down the street (think mini Rodeo Dr.). It's a ritzy area of Orlando with AD's within walking distance, a very nice park, old school train station, it'd be a great place to meet. Let me get in touch with Scott and see what would work. Would you guys prefer to eat somewhere there, or have catering come in with armed security in plain clothes walking amongst us? It's your call...I think Scott mentioned something like 25-30 bucks to do all that but I'll double check.

Dan, I'm going to defer to the others as to what they would like to do about food. I am very amenable and open to anything. I just think this will be a fun event.

Cool, yeah...I'll wait a little to see what everyone wants to do and we get a date set in stone so I can give Scott a heads up. Get ready to see some eye poppers for real!

After seeing the pics of the Kentucky GTG, I really want to get this worked out. Let's do this. Calling all our Florida pals!

Here are some general questions:
-where are you going to stay (hotel suggestion)
-how long are you intending on staying
-anyone interested in visiting a park

Hopefully we get everything sorted with regards to dinner, etc. I'm getting excited y'all!

I'll probably stay a night since it's only about a 2 hour drive for me. I'd be down with going to a park (but school might be out... it may be crazy!)

I'm not so picky about hotels. There's a great Hampton Inn by Lake Buena Vista where I stay on business. I've been more satisfied with cheaper hotels than the expensive ones in Orlando. Although the Lake Buena Vista Palace (I think?) is sweet too!

The Hampton Inn's, IMO, are some of the best budget hotels I've stayed at. I'm okay with that one for sure.

You're right school is out, but maybe the ridiculous heats would keep people from wanting to go. My drive time is about 5 hours, so it's not too bad. I could definitely drive there Saturday morning and leave Sunday evening.

I'm open for any date. I guess you said the 5th first. That's also okay by me. Sorry, for some reason I thought Saturday was the 5th.

Yeah, I was waiting for the date set...Scott's shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays and I didn't get a chance to call him Friday since my dog got injured. I'll ring him on Tuesday for sure!
