Native Spanish Speakers - how to say mainspring in Spanish?

And does anyone know what the part # is for a mainspring off a SS Sub 16610?

I'm certain my mainspring is outta commission and I'm on my way to South America for just about a month. Any help on the proper name for 'mainspring' in Spanish would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Apologies if I'm posting to the wrong section!

Just spoke to a very good watchmaker and he informed me that it is referred to as "cuerda"...

Hopefully there is no difference with dialects..

Hi, it is called "cuerda" throughout latin america and spain, no country differences! To be slightly more explicit you can say "el resorte de la cuerda". It's probably called "cuerda" (rope) since the early watches had (rope) pulleys for the weights

a good way to translate hard words, type them in to wikipedia in english and then look at articles in other languages :)

With all due respect, not only do I find your joke lacking of humor, but a bit offensive as well. There are many members here from all backgrounds, and making fun of a certain language seems out of place.
