Stolen Daytona - I'm so sad.

Hey guys it's been a while since I posted here something.
My last post was a rant about if and maybe I'm done with rolex due to the shortages.
But last weekend I was visiting Vienna, Austria my Daytona got stolen. It was my daily driver watch. I just miss it so much I've had two occasions that ppl tried to steal it but I managed to avoid it and save my beloved. But now it's gone :(
Life just isn't the same without my Daytona... Any kind words will be nice...
I freaking hate thieves.
I'm really sad ...

Thats devastating news.....Absolutely gutted to hear this. I agree the thieves should be castrated and hanged.

How did this happen if I may ask??

But I'm not sure if even locking the door wouldve helped since the thief knew what he was looking for. My wallet (mostly cards no cash) and bracelet (white gold) were next to the watch but we're left untouched.
Maybe he marked my watch :(

Yikes that makes me sick to hear. Are you sure you didn't just lose it? Hotel doors usually lock themselves.

Either way, very sorry to hear.

Sorry to hear that - absolute parasites. If there is any solace it's that you were unhurt (I hope!).
All the best mate.

Thanks for the kind words.
Couldn't have lost it. I have a very strict ritual before bed putting wallet bracelet Nd watch together. Wouldve noticed it.

Sorry to read about the theft of your Daytona.

There may soon be the possibility of a Rolex giveaway for pledge members.

This giveaway is to help with the running of the Forum.

You never know when your luck may change.

E.

Sorry to hear it got stolen. However, I’d put it in perspective: at the end of the day, it’s just a damn watch and can be replaced. The fact that you’re as sad as you are over this relatively small and insignificant loss shows how fortunate you must be in other areas.

If it was stolen from your room most hotels have CCTV in the hallways. Cant you ask the hotel for that and surely that will show the thief.

I asked, even filed a police report. But choosing to sleep in a old building hotel because it looks authentic comes with certain technological drawbacks. Like no cameras everywhere and still old fashioned keys on the doors.
Basicly they said nothing they could do. And since I'm not insured for this ... goodbye watch ...

Desperately sad and worrying.
Probably involved a hotel worker with access to keycards who had seen you check in with the watch on. Particularly likely if it was a nice hotel. They may also be able to shut off the CCTV. I've heard about this sort of thing before.
Glad you're OK.

Ahhh thats a pain. Damn. Feel sorry for you man. I'm always weary as well whenever I travel and have my expensive watches with me.

Its not all bad at least your safe and not injured. You can replace the Daytona.

Sorry to hear about the theft of your Daytona Jay, a truly sickening situation. As others have pointed out you still have the most important thing, your health...doesn’t make the situation any less crappy but you live to see another day.

That’s pretty scary. In the room while you were sleeping. Left the wallet and bracelet. It definitely sounds like you were targeted.

Im sorry for that unfortunate event. It is every watch enthusiast nightmare. When ever I travel, i never take of my watch... even when sleeping. Its a little uncomfortable but, gives me peace of mind. What other advice would you guys give on how to prevent this from happening?

I leave my watch in the room safe whilst I'm sleeping. I know the safe has a mastercode over-ride etc....but I think its still better than leaving it on the bedside table.

I always lock my door as well and mostly have the DND sign on the front. When I'm ready for the day I will always have it on my wrist.

Agreed. For this reason we always carry 'door wedges' after hearing our hotel room door being 'tried' late one night.
I see that you can also buy motion sensor alarms to slip over the doorknob.

Gimme a break, mate.... I've only just surfaced. VERY heavy night!
You're right tho'. Hands up, and guilty of, thread waffle skimming.
Are you the new; thread gestapo officer?

Sorry for your loss, Jay.

If I’m staying in a hotel and I take my watch off, I always hide it in one of my shoes.
