Rolex Datejust 36 116234 Initial Thoughts
Just received my DJ36 in the mail so here's a quick review of my initial thoughts.
I've owned a 36mm Explorer, 39mm Explorer and a DJ2. The last 3 Rolexes I've owned had smooth bezels and oyster bracelets as I always believed that to be the ideal spec. Throughout my briefly lived ownership of the DJ2, I found myself wanting a smaller watch that is also less prone to visible imperfections. The logical solution to many would've been a Sub, but I wanted to try something with a jubilee. My take: The DJ36 is just right. It is often said that the fluted bezel makes the watch wear larger and that is spot on. The super jubilee is more comfortable than the oyster bracelet and the roulette dial is a nice touch. Very happy with my decision, let me know your thoughts! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Great choice. IMO the 36mm datejust is the ideal Rolex & the jubilee bracelet is the most comfortable I’ve ever worn.

The DJ 36 with the jubilee bracelet and white gold bezel is such an iconic and classic look. I wish I kept mine instead of trading it for a DJ2..

Having owned both, what was your take on the 36mm vs 39mm Explorer? I'm interested in an Explorer but I'm afraid 39mm might be pushing it. |

I was gonna make my first watch 41 date just jubillee fluted but then i randomly went for the hulk .. and i am very glad i did .. now that i know more about watches I think the date just 36 is just mcuh more classier and will be more comfy .. and comporft is what it is all about and only then the beuty ... do u think the fluted bezel makes it look wider ? i really wonder why that is .. does smooth bezel make it look smaller ? could you tell more about this i am reallyt interested

The DJ36 on jubilee with the fluted bezel is the quintessential Rolex. Frankly I don't understand these people that have a dozen Rolex tool watches from the Professional series and they call that a collection. It isn't. It is a bunch of watches that look and act alike with slightly different colored bezels. A collection would be an Explorer, a DJ of some kind bit clearly fluted w jubilee, an OP and a tool watch or 3. With different color dials.
And having the 116234 gives you the now lost hidden clasp. |

36mm, fluted and jubilee is about as “Rolex” as it gets IMO. Even if you have a larger wrist size, you would be doing yourself a disservice not having one of these in the stable. Congrats!

Just got the 36mm DJ blue dial 126234 from my AD. It's a stunner. For medium to small wrist, 36 is the way to go.

Great looking watch. I own a 36mm DJ Model 1601 with Jubilee. I love the size of the watch and the Jubilee is the most comfortable bracelet (I agree with previous posters on that). I used to only look at and think about Submariners and Exp II's and now I wonder why I never considered the DJ model! It is my favorite watch to wear around.
