Oiling a squeaky Seiko bracelet

Any tips on this matter? I heard that dry lube could be good to get some of the squeaking sound out. Also realized that some of the squeak actually is rattling sounds from end links and clasp not being perfectly engineered.

Of course the body oils and wear will help with the squeaking over time but I still want to oil it up a bit already now…in the attached pic you can see that at least the lower end link doesn’t fit that good which I will take care of…

Will attach a pic of an oil I was thinking of purchasing…which is actually used on bikes…

And I understand that modern Seiko bracelets are nothing like a Rolex bracelet…seems like they are made of tin pieces that are pressed together

Depends on the model in terms of quality. On a $150 Seiko 5 you can't expect too much. The squeak will likely go away with wear, though.

Wear it in a hot tub several times or place the bracelet in kettle hot water. The heat will expand the links and pins and then settle back as they cool. I’ve done it in the past on a Mondaine and it worked.

Wow! Never heard of that tip! Will it not make the bracelet get stretchy?

Save yourself from scalding and just give the bracelet a light puff of silicone spray.

And thanks for not assuming you put it on at boil temps. Eddie has so much scar tissue on this calves from his bike exhaust he forgets you don’t have to touch hot metal.
