Planet Ocean Chrono Olympic v Planet Ocean Ti Lm 8500

Just picked up the new Planet Ocean 8500 Titanium Liquid Metal today and I love it. The color is extremely difficult to capture in photos, it's a dark blue color which I love. The case and bracelet are lightweight but feel very solid. Overall I am really pleased with the new addition. Since the boneheads at Rolex won't make a blue ceramic sub in SS, this one has scratched my itch perfectly for a blue dial watch.

Awesome...congrats! I love the new PO's. I use to have a POC, but sold years ago. Now I'm DYING for a POC 9300...but just can't find a deal I'm 100% happy with.

What do you think about the new bezel teeth? I love the fact they have made them more square/blocked (same on the crown)...definitely a throwback to Omega's from the 60's/70's.

That blue is way better looking than the Rolex blue anyway, great choice.

THanks. The new square blocked teeth are a nice change. On the Olympic Chrono, the bezel teeth are sharp, they feel like they could cut my fingers but the new square teeth are smooth. As for aesthetics, they look fairly similar.

I agree, the WG Blue Sub is not the same in person, it was a weird shade of blue....I was let down when I tried it on.

Looks great

Keep the pictures coming.

Thank you for the side-by-side of the bezels, too. To me the new bezel proportions (thinner light ring) are much more appealing.

How is the clasp? Any kind of ratchet like on the Polprof clasp? This is a real deal maker/breaker for me! I just love an adjustable clasp on a bracelet.

I agree. I never really understood why that bezel ring was so wide (or why they even put it on in the first place). Definitely another improvement by minimizing that aspect of the bezel.

The clasp does not have a ratchet like extension as the Polprof or Breitling Ocean Racer clasp which I happen to think is the greatest deployment clasp ever made. The new PO does have an ez-extention which adds an inch to the bracelet, I would have loved if it they made the clasp similar to the new SubC clasp for fine adjustments. Can't have everything though

I happen to LOVE the wider bezen ring on the Chrono because it flows with the white numerals and white stiching on the strap but I would NOT like it on my 8500, the more ceramic the better

Thanks, it's one of my all time favorite watches. It's the Planet Ocean Chrono Timeless Olympic Edition. It's still offered by Omega, mine is about 3 years old. Here's a link to Omega's website with more details on the model.

Wow, that looks good.

Wonder if that blue will fade like the prior seamasters, if exposed to chlorine.

Ceramic won't fade over time like a standard aluminum bezel. At least that's what one of the selling points are of ceramic.
