Potential Scammer: Michael Gordon: legal.business@yahoo.com

Dealers and private sellers beware.

Somone using the name Michael Gordon with an email legal.business@yahoo.com contacted us regarding one of our Ref 5513 submariners as well as one of our 16753 gmt's. The phone number was Los Angeles based 323-273-XXXX asking if we could ship to Florida yet his drivers license that he provided without us asking was in Texas... Additionally, his phone number did not pull up, nor did his email address... and was pushing us for our banking information....

Be careful guys, do your homework on the guys you are buying from and most importantly selling too...

Amature scammers but passing along info just in case

A guy with the same name has a 5513 1.5m Meters first nice patina dial, on a Rolex USA band listed on eBay now says he is in Little Rock Arkansas, he asked me to pay him (if we came to an agreement on price, we hadn’t even discussed yet) not via PayPal but Apple Pay. Saying they have some system that doesn’t release the money until I have received the watch and release the funds to him.

I did a little research and found there is no such thing Then I put his actual name (that he gave me) into Google... low and behold this thread popped up! I should’ve looked here first I just haven’t been around for a while!

I just sent the seller a friendly message asking him to take a couple of pics to verify ownership of the watch. We shall see......not holding my breath, and oh, zero seller feedback. Has buyer feedback, but no seller. Maybe hacked account.

His username is his phone number, he sent me that message through eBay and that’s how he asked me for the Apple Pay (Through text) proving ownership he sent me a photo it had a code inbedded in it that shows you your own name and the date, makes it look like he had written them by hand, problem is, I never gave him my name, this code he has in the picture auto generates the name from your phone carrier, I think?

Sounds pretty sophisticated. Up to $5500 already. I don't expect to hear from him.

I was the high bidder with 4 days left and he just emailed me out of nowhere and ended the auction.

To me it’s looking like He’s using the auction to lure people and then the phone number and some code to convince them it’s a legit deal.

Yea, seller can get all usernames of bidders, makes sense. Over 6K now, 6 days left. Am sure ebay would love to know he's ending listings, then contacting bidders. ebay is clearly behind the curve in dealing with this.

Scammer also pulled the same trick on a Hublot watch. Reported several times for different infractions.

No feedback as seller over past 12 months. Username changed recently (to include the 'hidden' phone number). Hijacked account for sure.

Another hijacked Ebay account using the same phone number to scam buyers.

By putting his phone number in his username he’s evading the system that detects personal info in messages.

I will report an outside sales attempt to eBay And I let them know all the information we’ve dug up so far.

Great job guys, I don’t want this guy to take anybody’s money, God knows how many people he’s actually ripped off already.

He told me he took down that listing because he had made a deal with someone but they backed out. So he may have already taken someone’s money?

This is exactly why we post this kind of stuff! Glad it has become useful and helped avoid a potentially bad deal for someone out there...
